Having a lot of money, without having someone to share it with, is worthless.

Never put money first.

I'm not sure I agree with this quote. It just seems to pigeon hole everyone into having the same aspirations in life. Some people just want to live a simple life enjoying the things they do. Why is a life meaningless if someone doesn't make a footprint in society, but instead just lived a life doing what made them happy? Seems like an arrogant quote to me, TBH.

Just be yourself.

It took me about 25 years to learn that.

You have to understand that Morrie Schwartz was dying from ALS when he gave that quote. To me it was his reflection of what he has seen in life and what people should be doing to find more happiness and meaning in their lives. I agree that he likes to pigeon hole but I think the greater message to take from it is to do something that gives you meaning and purpose in life. It could be in the career that you choose or the things that you do in free time.

99% of people on this planet only care about themselves and will do just about anything to get ahead. Selfishness is part of our DNA as a species.

I would actually peg that number around 40%. 40% of people caring about nothing other than their own power and wealth is still crazy.

Work a job you love and it won't feel like a job. I worked 2 years in a mind numbing job which I hated over and over again. Switched over to a completely different field not related to my 8 year University degree. I love it and I make a heck a lot more too! Makes waking up enjoyable and me coming home not tired and cranky.

Also, a really nice mattress to sleep on is great.

Almost exactly the same here, but replace "a heck of a lot more" with "about 80% less." Still, I couldn't be happier with the change.
