I hate the Sabres for manuvering such a lopsided trade with the Islanders.
But I think organizationally we have as good if not better depth/supporting cast than them. And any one of the consensus top 3 would set us up just fine.

I think Buffalo has a really good chance at two top 5 picks. They are going to stink no matter what, and the Isles never fail to disappoint.
McDavid and Eichel is a possibility for them.

Screw it, let's go all in. Buffalo and NYI finish bottom two, St. Louis barely misses the playoffs, their first round pick wins the lottery with a 1% chance and we get the top 3!

Haha.
Realistically we will probably see Buffalo somewhere in the bottom 3 (if we're that bad, hopefully #1), NYI pick in the 7-10 range (which in this draft will be a very good prospect) and the Blues pick anywhere from 20-30. In any case, it should be a franchise-defining draft.
Unless we're somehow good this year. You really never know.

Buffalo did add a lot of pieces in the off season. But they do have a gaping hole in net. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Sabers in the middle of the pack this season. Maybe even fighting for a wildcard.

I would. They lost Miller and Ehrhoff and added a few decent pieces. Anything above bottom 5 would be a huge victory (of sorts, I suppose).

A playoff spot would be a huge victory.
Anything out of the bottom five but not a playoff spot would be kind of disappointing.

Yeah I suppose I meant victory in the traditional sense where you are happy to win. My mistake

You add this to an incredibly weak Eastern Conference.
When you look at lineup vs lineup; it's hard to not see Calgary outside of the bottom 3... It's also hard to see Buffalo dead-last like most predict.
If they're there, it's going to be hard not playing the flop/tank card on them... They actually have a very legitimate forward core; with real top 6 players, and a very solid top 9. Even their defense is quite solid, especially with a rock like Gorges in there now.
Goaltending might be a question, but at one time Neivirth was considered a high caliber goalie prospect... he's still young and actually had a decent season last year when diving into his statistics.

Have they started advertising for the 2015 draft of Mac vs. Jack in Edmonton yet?

I hope Buffalo finishes 10th last, and Isles and Blues both make the playoffs.

My guess for the OA positions Buffalo gets are: 2nd OA, 11th OA, 22nd OA.

10 or 11 sounds about right for the Islanders, but I would think the StL pick would be more in the 24-28 range.

McKenzie's top 15 is now out:

Perhaps most surprising is he has Kylington at #8

Watching USA prospect game in Buffalo.
Eichel...playing, as advertised.
Unreal vision and skill.

First time I've seen Crouse mentioned. Also the first time i've seen Zacha listed so high as well. So, obviously a lot can change, but we can pretty much nail on the top 2. But it seems there might be a fair bit of movement on the guys beneath them. I mean, if McKenzie's rankings differ so much from any I've seen so far, then how many scouts/media guys will have differing lists too?

Hanifin was weak on two goals, including the last by Eichel
