I haven't seen any 6+ yet in Calgary but the usually have most of the 6's show up at midnight. The Space Grey models are usually available.
Thanks for this.

Reserved a Space Gray 64GB last night at 1:00 am, and picked it up at 11 am today.

I was kinda sickened by the dirty scalpers. There was 2 white guys in line, me and some other guy, and a sea of Chinese people (easliy over 50) buying as many unlocked phones as they could carry. Whole families were there. Many had reserved on 4 and 5 emails addresses, and they were limiting people to 2 per person. One was shouting in Chinese at the employees because Apple wouldn't let them game the system. And I did see hand offs happening in the hallway next to the Apple store. I asked one of the scalpers what the deal was, and why this is so important to them and they are getting a $3-500 premium shipping them back to China.

This is why Apple needs to have a unilateral global release dates. For the average schmucks like us on this board that just want the new phone for personal use, it isn't fair to make a reservation, and still stand in line for 1 hour waiting for a bunch of scalpers to argue with the staff.

That or have a 1 phone per customer limit, and a dirty scalper line where they can have as many leftovers as they want once the real customers have been served.

Love the phone, picked up a 128gb white at bell in red deer on the release day (no line, random impulse buy walking through the mall). Larger screen was a long time coming.

Anybody else notice a lot of apps become non responsive and often crash back to the home screen? At first I thought my touch screen was faulty but I've noticed tapatalk, Facebook, clash of clans (so I've uh, been told), even Chrome have all crashed more than a few times. Maybe I just need to wait for iOS 8 optimized updates of each app as it sounds like while the GUI stayed the same there were a lot of "under the hood" changes.

Also label the line as such, for shaming purposes.

What the heck? IOS 8 has been a mess so far. I haven't had a lot of issues personally but it's apparent that this has been their buggiest software release to date. Apple needs to be better than this.

Bought a 5s (due to size preference, build) and haven't had any issues with bugs or anything for the new ios.

Not intended to be a troll, but rather an fyi.

iOS 7 was a disaster for me. iOS 8 has been fine so far.

I've been using iOS 8 since the first beta and it's been great on my phone, but I'm having issues with wifi on my iPad.

iOS 8 is the first time I've had any noticeably buggy issues (keyboard choice doesn't stick).

Is this the first time they've released and then pulled an update? I want to say it's happened before but I can't find any reference to it.

Speaking of keyboards, is anybody else bothered by the <numbers> and <Emoticons> buttons swapping places depending on if you have the phone in landscape or portrait mode?

Facebook shamming could be the answer. While you are waiting in line, take some pictures of scalpers coming out of the store with several bags of Iphones will do it.

Yes.

I'm more annoyed that Swiftkey is so different on iOS, one of the things I liked about it on Android was that I could type one number or other special character without having to switch to the numbers screen.

Another case where iOS just seems to take more taps in general than Android.

It would be a good idea, but I don't think 75-90 year old Chinese grand parents have facebook profiles. That was the part that was kinda sad to me. These people dragging their elderly frail folks down there to stand in line for 2 hours.

I'm surprised it's that low of a number.

Laying down $800+ cash per device, jumping through the reservations hoop, paying folks to stand in line, then shipping back to China, and having to put in the legwork time in to sell em for $500?

I mean they must be making a profit off multiple phones, but I'd love to see the actual cost breakdown on say a lot of 10 phones. Knowing you had to cut in 5 people to stand in line along the way.

They are making $300-500 per phone OVER what they paid apparently.

Yeah sorry I typed that wrong, when I said "selling for $500" I should have said "$500 profit".

But like I said, I'd love to see the cost breakdown after you consider the time put in for reservations and paying folks to stand in line & do pickups. How much are they paying the middlemen going into the store? $50 a phone? $20 a phone?

"Hey I'll give you $1,750 cash to go into the Apple store and get two new iPhones, you keep the change for your time"

What's the shipping cost on that? An airline ticket and you take a carryon packed with phones with you?

I'm honestly just curious about the economics of how these guys operate, and handing nearly $2k over to a pop over to a dozen or so people.

$500 a phone is pretty good tax free profits for these guys. If they group their shipment together, I bet their net profit is easily $400 a phone or more. All that involves is some computer time and standing in line time for those grand parents who got tons of free time anyway.

If they just scalp one phone a day, that's more than I make after tax sitting at the office.

If you do the math on it, and it is $300 a phone they are netting in the transaction, 100 phones buys you a nice car. I get why it is being done, but Apple is doing nothing to control it. All they are doing is robbing Peter to pay Paul by allowing it to happen. All the grey market device buyers overseas, are going to buy the phone regardless. So just release them in both markets at the same time, and maybe charge more in those markets where people are willing to pay 50% more.

I am sure the Apple execs get off on these line-ups though. All I saw today was a TON of false hype. I felt stupid standing in line with all those scalpers.

Holy crap.... not the full article, as the body requires a membership. But this claims grey market prices in China are $3600!!

http://www.ibtimes.co.in/apple-iphon...-report-609697

Another article about the crazy pricing:

http://www.computerworld.com/article...-in-china.html

And based on the second article, all those people standing in line like that, are basically smugglers.

So am I. Which is messed up because I set it up as a new device. Given there is no way for me to modify the iPad air hardware, how does this not get caught in testing?

My safari has been very slow on my 5s. It also freezes. Ios has been buggy since 7, but this is been really bad for me so far. I wonder if jony ive do both jobs maybe to blame? Focus on design and not quality code on the software side? Just a guess but funny coincidence the software got buggy as soon as he took over.
