I agree with you completely but still just don't like the censorship of it all (sigh)

I've been here a long time and gotten my fair share of infractions and I have to admit that I was shocked when it was allowed in the first place.

It feels odd asking this after so long, but can somebody explain the thread title to me? I never understood it.

Thoughts and prayers go out to those who will no longer be able to simultaneously masturbate together in that thread.

I believe it was a rip-off of the "You fap, you lose" threads on 4chan and reddit. The title is pretty self-explanatory.

this thread is sad.

I didn't agree with the shutting down of that thread even though I never even went into it more than once. looking at girls in bikinis really isn't my thing but I still wanted it to remain open.

but this thread brings new meaning to creepy and sad.

really? i think people could argue the same sentiment for people who take part in a GDT or PGT on CP.

I'm fine with, and understand the rationale for the threads removal, that being said.....

Yes, there's all types of porn, etc, on the web, i actually didn't think that's why people posted or took part in the thread. Actually the fact that there's a whole WWW where you can find just about anything, yet people took part in this thread with the inherent restrictions on what could be posted, does illustrate that it wasn't just a pornographic material thread.

If that's all you can make of it, well think on it next time you open up or post in a PGT, which could also be alluded to a big "circle ****" that you are referencing.

I don't understand why people liked that thread so much anyway. Women with their clothes on? C'mon people nobody has gotten their jollies on that since 1995.

I really dont believe this thread is actually lamenting the loss of our "girly pics" as it was our venue to share something we enjoyed with other fellow CPers just as though we were talking Flames, cars or food. It honestly was just an entertaining outlet for me personally, never feeling there was anything sadistic about it.
How was it an unfair process? We had a lengthy discussion with the community on the subject and I know personally I read every post in the thread about it.This is actually an example of where we took steps to engage the community and gather input before making a decision.

And I think in your post you actually provide good insight into why the thread was offensive:
""girly pics" as it was our venue to share something we enjoyed with other fellow CPers just as though we were talking Flames, cars or food"

Women don't like to be talked about like they are cars or food.

Saw the title of this thread and thought it was a poorly titled thread for remembering the dead. It didn't even occur to me it could be about the goggling women thread because that would be ridiculous.

This pretty much sums it up right here.

Women don't like to be talked about like they are cars or food.
While I agree with the sentiment that women do not like to be treated, or talked about as an object, the thread was devoted to what society saw as attractive.
The photos of the women posted were not some amateur voyeur posting up-skirts, or down shirt shots of strangers he/she took pictures of unknowingly.
The pictures were all of women, who consented to be photographed, and very likely for their own monetary gain, and reputation. They were models/athletes/actresses, or in some way a public figure. I am sure they were all aware, when being photographed in less than full attire, men (and very possibly women) were going to enjoy looking at them, and wasn't that the whole reason to begin with?
If people were offended by the comments made in the forum, then isn't that the issue that should have been dealt with? Because the photos are photos that are seen everywhere, every day. Go to the mall, walk by a lingerie store, or womens clothing store, there are 12 foot posters of women in their underwear or half dressed. Walk by a travel agency, posters of women in bikinis, pick up a travel magazine while there, full of photos of women in bikinis, turn on the TV, half the ads are full of scantily clad women, and don't even get me started on "surfing the web"
Sex sells, and society knows it, and exposes it, I don't feel there was anything more offensive in the YLYL thread than anything advertisers shove in our faces on a daily basis.
I understand the moderators made a decision, but I can also understand why some are upset by it, especially after the lengthy debate and poll, only to have what was the opposite of the poll results take place.

And yet that avatar you have is totally NSFW. I don't have an opinion one way or another if the lady picture thread is gone, but if we cant have that - we shouldnt have risque avatars either.

But it appears to be a mans nude ass, which is totally fine, we just can't objectify women.

You've made a good point about the nature of the photos, but you've missed the point about them being here.

Women do not like being objectified. Scratch that, people do not like being objectified.

You are absolutely 100% correct about the women in those photos. They consented to this and knew what they were doing.

The fact of the matter remains though: Did those photos belong here?

Ultimately, I think not. We're 'off-topic' and an all around general forum and this community has grown from a bunch of, admittedly, predominantly male and local hockey fans, to a world wide community, and as the community changes so do we or we wont fit into it anymore.
