18-0?
I'll take that result.

Finally. Gaudreau-Granlund. I've been waiting for this day. And Ferland plays at last. So excite.
Edit: ^Wow, Yotes. Way to dress your starter and vets. Clearly don't understand the purpose of pre season exhibitions..

Well with a tough opposing roster like that, it's going to be a great test to see who's NHL ready to start the season.

Lol I hope Johnny/Sven/Granlund chase Smith from the net. That would just be the best thing ever.. Definitely no better test for the youngsters and tryout hopefuls than tonight.

An injury update for the #Flames...Mason Raymond is day-to-day with a lower body injury.
I guess Klimchuk draws in?

I almost forgot about the Gagner double-trade.I actually hope he lights it up in the desert this year.

Man... can we just get a break from the injuries already? It's not even regular season yet and half the roster is getting injured.

This happens every year. Most of these "injuries" would not be serious enough to mention or miss time if it wasn't preseason

It's a split squad game. They sent a very youthful team to Anaheim last night to play the Ducks. I think I recognized maybe 3 names from the list as actual NHL players. From the sounds of it, they wanted to send a big name group because this is a TV game as well as a special event where they can get some positive PR from it. They saw no use sending a group of nobodies to this big name event.

Didn't know about the split squad. But I assumed they sent vets for PR reasons. I still think it's unnecessary though.
We should send Monahan up the highway if Raymond is indeed unable to play. I'm a little worried about this roster without only a couple vets up front on and the blueline.

He is on the ice skating with the other injured players at camp but aside from that, no other update was given on him.

Rather unfortunate for Sven that Raymond isn't playing as would have been in a good position to see what an actual line could look like. Klimchuk isn't quite ready for NHL lineup like the Yotes are playing.

How many NHL vets have to be in a game?
My count there is only 5 NHL players. You 2 or 3 others would be maybes.
Baertschi-Colborne-Klimchuk ; Glencross-Reinhart-Jooris; Gaudreau-Granlund-Ferland; Wolf-Elson-McGrattan
Russell-Engelland; Kulak-Diaz; Sieloff-Brookbank. Ortio and Carr

15.4 Exhibition Games.
(c) A Club shall be permitted to dress a minimum of eight (8) veterans for any Exhibition Game. For purposes of this Section 15.4(c), a veteran shall constitute either:
(1) a forward or defenseman who played in thirty (30) NHL Games during the previous season,
(2) a goaltender who either dressed in fifty (50) or more NHL Games or played in thirty (30) or more NHL Games in the previous season,
(3) a first round draft choice from the most recent year's Entry Draft, or
(4) any Player who has played one-hundred (100) or more career NHL Games.
|
Colborne, Glencross, McGrattan, Russell, Engelland, Diaz, and Brookbank qualify.
So with Raymond out it looks like we're 1 veteran short from a legal roster.
