Default RIP You Love You Lose thread

Not a thread for arguing or for pointing fingers, but was hoping we could have some way to say goodbye to our beloved thread which was abruptly taken away from us.

Show your appreciation for it,
Say your goodbyes,
Recognize a CPer who had some good contributions!

IMO, it was tied with the Funny and Cool thread in being the best thread on CP

Goodbye...

Now it will be impossible to find pictures of hot women on the internet.

I feel deleting the entire thread was a mistake and believe it sets the wrong example for the site moving forward. As a former regular contributer to the thread, i find it difficult remembering any inappropriate remarks regarding any of the pics that were posted in the thread. There was the occasional "wow" or "yes please" but actually nothing derogatory in nature and it was a thread i enjoyed sharing my post with others.

It will be missed, thanks for the opportunity to say good-bye (que the Boyz II men)

Considering the internet is 75% porn I don't get the outcry. This forum isn't a tree fort with a no girls allowed sign, which some of you seem to long for.

Hey photon, what are the odds that we can make this alteration to the Register process?

Having a thread dedicated to saying goodbye to the girlie thread isn't doing much for the argument that certain posters, and certain male members of society, have a weird feeling of entitlement when it comes to looking at females bodies in states of undress.

In fact, it's super creepy. Creepier than the original thread.

You're really just proving the point of any feminist (female or male) who has made a well reasoned argument.

Also, the thread isn't a person. RIP is a bit dramatic, no?

That will be my only comment because I should probably just let this thread die, and bumping it is the wrong thing to do.

i'm curious on how mods proceed here.

as i posted in the ylyl thread, "sedin sisters" should also be banned from the forum. i actually consider that just as negative and harming to women/gender equality as having a thread that appreciates attractive women.

Super creepy? LOL. Pictures of female bodies in states of undress isn't going anywhere. Ever. It's in TV, movies, magazines, internet as it always will unless humans ever evolve to reproducing asexually.

I respect the site's stance on taking it down (it's their site and if this makes them feel better about their site it's their prerogative) but it's a win for nobody as it changes absolutely nothing.

I don't want to speak for others but personally im not that effected about the thread being gone but instead take specific issue with how the entire thread was deleted in what i would consider an unfair process. I would feel the same way if there had been what i consider a misguided debate and then all of a sudden, without warning the mods deleted the Burger thread just because a few others believe eating meat is murder. I really dont believe this thread is actually lamenting the loss of our "girly pics" as it was our venue to share something we enjoyed with other fellow CPers just as though we were talking Flames, cars or food. It honestly was just an entertaining outlet for me personally, never feeling there was anything sadistic about it.

It's their site not a democracy (or the thread wouldn't be closed as the polls indicated less than 25% actually wanted it shut down) and they can do what they want. There is nothing unfair about what happened as the people that run the site can pick and choose what content they want to restrict. In time nobody will even remember it's existence as things will go on and other topics will be discussed. It's not like there will ever be a shortage of other places to get your fix for admiring the beauty of human females.

I think you're misunderstanding me. I agree with your first part, but that's what makes this thread worse. There will always be those pics, so there no reason to mourn the thread. The fact that people think we need to give the thread a proper burial is weird and creepy to me. Oh no! Our pics are gone, lets get together to acknowledge this great thread. Weird...

Anyway, if you want to address me, you can hit up any of my comments in the YLYL issues thread, no need to have two threads discussing the same thing. And I don't mean that to be a challenge or a way to end the conversation. Just that I said I wouldn't comment again, and I already have, and that's on me. I don't want to have to go back and forth, nor do I really want to bring more attention to this specific thread.

Seemed to me that nfotiu was making a joke based on what you've quoted in your post. I don't think it was a personal slight. I thought it was funny in a good natured way. Your friend is a good poster here.

Maybe. Maybe not. Given the tone of the day and the fact that that was at least the second time I've seen a "joking" post about my friend today... yeah.

He is a good poster here.

I always figured that the YLYL thread would've been closed after a new poster who didn't bother reading the forum rules posted a whole bunch of naked photos in it.
