The Flames used to do this and CalgaryPuck hated it.

We can all appreciate what Boston did to turf the Canucks but you can also see them as a team of scum bags not much different or better than the Canucks.

Actually, the Bruins are a considerably different type of scum compared to Vancouver and, by definition (since it is Vancouver), significantly better.

I actually remember at one point during that series I turned to my friend and said " You know it's pretty bad when Boston comes off as the good guys"
They definitely pull a lot of crap, including diving, cheap shots and the occasional spear.

I prefer to see Iginla on the Avs than either Pittsburgh or Boston.

Saw all the bumps in the thread and thought it would be people talking about how they gave Iggy an 'A'.

Looks like Jarome Iginla gets the 'A' vacated by Paul Stastny

Ray Bourque was also given an 'A' when he came to Colorado. A sign of things to come?

Yeah, playing for the Avs? He's dead to me.
I was cool with him hunting for a cup not just taking a payday in Colorado.

I think he's hunting for a cup with the Avs. I think they have as good a shot as any team and the best top 6 in the league. He's not only going to have a shot at the cup for 3 years, he's going to be playing with amazing talent and pad his stats while he's there.

I've made this case in this thread already. I dont see the Avs even getting a sniff of a cup in the next 3 years.

Colorado definitely has a chance to win. Maybe not the best chance (LA, Chicago, St. Louis and Anaheim have to be the favourites), but they could definitely do it. Even without Stastny, their forward depth is unreal and they have a Vezina calibre goalie.

So they're like 5th or 6th likely in the West, so yeah, they could do it, but its still a long-shot.
Thats not cup hunting. If he had gone to one of the 4 teams you listed, as they are favourites it would have made more sense but less money.

He would have had a better shot at the Cup if he was playing for a team in the East. Anahiem, LA, Chicago and St Loius are teams that Avs have to compete with to get to the Cup finals.
My personal opinion is that Iggy went for the money and security of a 3 year contract.

I'm sure the 3 year deal helped, but he wouldn't have signed there if he didn't think they had a decent chance to win.

you guys are talking in absolutes here.... The "new avs" haven't even played a game yet, they could be the best team in the league and heavy favourites to win the cup. You can argue that other teams are better but this team has made significant strides to become better and their young players are getting better and entering their prime (much like the oilers thought their "stars" would do). They have really good goaltending, great forward depth and decent D. I'm willing to bet they're considered contenders by the end of the year.
My personal opinion is Iggy had a lot of teams interested in him and went after a cup and money at the same time.
