This may have made Southwest's decision on whether or not to hit up Canada even easier.
Not really, we've discussed the SW thing over at SSP and the way they operate is to come into a new route with lots of capacity and flights. There are very few routes Canada-USA that this will make sense for them to do. So regardless of this WS bag fee announcement it will still be business as usual for SW in looking at which Canadian destinations will work for them.
I think from YYC alone there is only one route that has potential, and that is the YYC-Dallas market.

Lots of hoops to go through before they allow int'l routes from DAL but that'd be an awesome battle to watch, WS/AA to DFW taking on WN to DAL. Everybody's got feed on both ends. It'd get messy.
Surprised they're doing that. I know Samsungs S4 shipments were "black ops" and were shipped in secret.
Was this to avoid theft?

The diva has arrived. Inaugural 787 Dreamliner service to Calgary touched down at 7:35 tonight on the new runway. She's leaving in a little bit but won't make a scene; this plane is crazy quiet.

I'd fly YYC-HOU in a heartbeat over YYC-IAH, but being closer to DT Houston makes sense for many travellers who aren't connecting.

That beaut flew right over my house last night. Had a head's up it was arriving last night so we were standing out front to watch. Would rather have been at the airport but had to settle for standing out front.
I don't know what reason Samsung had for the request but usually it has to do with theft, avoiding leaks (books, tech shipping before unvieling, losing teams champions gear.. etc) or avoiding brand names being associated with certian situations (this happens a lot in oil and gas on rail or road).
picking up a friend at the airport in Birmingham and there's a NASA private jet here

YYC-IAH: $1,654
YYC-IAH-SAT: $973
The worst is Calgary to Fort Mac, two years ago I paid $1,100 one way. The entire trip was $1,880 return. It would have been cheaper to take a taxi than the one flight.
