might have to suffer by having a league which works around the FIFA calender? which the MLS chooses to opt out of?

Poor context. The season they follow is global. It's followed a schedule of a 1 month break, followed by early qualifying for their continental club championship, and regional/domestic cups. Many of these have been occurring around this scheduled format, for 120+ years.

The example you're sharing - is based upon North America's (MLS - 20 yr old league), is the only region that plays a season that plays spring to fall.

So the disruption is massive.

As an outside observer who hasn't really been following this, I'm just curious: why is FIFA rumoured to want a joint U.S./Canada bid, as opposed to just a U.S. one? Don't get me wrong, I hope its true. But I'm just not sure what the reason for the split would be, considering the U.S. has already proven it has more than enough venues to handle the games themselves.

I don't really understand the thought process for FIFA wanting a split.

haha fair enough, I was probably over-thinking it. Guess I'm just being a stereotypical Canadian and assuming FIFA doesn't care if a nation of only 35 million people likes soccer or not. But what you said makes sense.

MLS isn't the only league that plays a summer league. Russia, Norway, Sweden, Finland do as well. I probably don't have to explain why these leagues do not play soccer in the winter...

Russia doesn't. Didn't consider Scandinavians, due to relevant impact globally. Not surprised though.
