More Bennett: “I think it’s just probably a little overuse. I’ve got a good program now that I’m definitely going to be aware of my groin."

You should always be aware of overusing your groin

Anyone else think that they like what thye've seen from the young wingers and they're moving Colborne back to center and looking to trade Backlund?
Sounds to me like Ferland and Granlund have realistic chances at making the team this year out of TC. Not sure about Johnny hockey and Baertschi. But with the signings of guys like Setogooey, Bollig and Raymond we'll have a surplus of guys that are ready to play the wing. I'm hoping they fit Byron in there too.
Pretty sure that's why they're shifting Colborne to C. That gives you Stajan, Monahan, Colborne and Bouma at center. Not sure we need Backlund really. And he could probably get you something in a trade. Granlund can play center too if need be.
Just throwing it out there.

Nope. I'm pretty sure that's not it.

I think they want to see Colborne - they Center they traded for - have some time as a Center for a while again to see how he does.
Also, I pretty much think Backlund has solidified himself as a Center on this team for the foreseeable future. At some point, they might convert him to a wing, but for this season and probably next, I would bet Stajan gets converted ahead of Backlund if they need to make room for Bennett and/or Colborne.

all this talk of injuries makes me think for the first time with all of our depth and added competition for spots with tryouts and what not that well be fine.
Guys getting hurt in training camp as opposed to just before playoffs doesn't worry me as much.
It means an effort is being made to make this roster and that guys are really buying into the 'MERITOCRACY " way of thinking that Bob, Marty and Cloutier are selling.....and Burke is demanding.
This is all GOOD........when was the last time we could have been this excited talking about our roster??
Our veteran players better be ready to lose the spots they have.

Colborne is very underwhelming as a centre.... I don't know why. He's much more effective as a winger.

I agree, but that was my point above. It's great to have tons of depth. But the one issue it's going to create a little bit this season and alot going forward. If we don't start making room for some of the young guys, thier development is going to slow.
At some point they have to play on the big team to take the next step. I see two or three guys in that boat this year (Granlund, Ferland, Reinhart, maybe Johnny). And probably a few more next year (Wotherspoon, Bennett, Poirier).
At some point the David Jones' and Setoguchi's have to go. That's why I was also surprised when they signed Stajan for 4 more years. If we have a similar season to last year I'm betting we'll be super busy at the trade deadline. Or at least we should be!
But like you said. It's better to have too many half decent young players than none. Which is the reason we are where we are in the first place.

The great thing about this year is that we have a young prospect group. Even if they don't make the team out of camp there is less of a need to worry about waivers etc than during the Feaster / sutter reign.
In an interview Smith he even said himself he was looking forward to this season in the minors. Overall I'm a lot less nervous about things than in previous years! The chips are poised to fall into place
