Nice read, although you misspelled 'Hudler' for 'Hurler'

Looking at FO%, Colborne had 56%, Knight had 55%, Monahan with an impressive 65% and Reinhart with 45%. Could it be that we will have some improvement here?

Nice write up by the way. I always look foreword to your live takes.

Wouldn't be a Game Takes thread without someone contributing by correcting spelling.

Only caught the second half of the game, but I saw a lot of instances of the Flames turning back in the neutral zone to regroup when rushes weren't coming together. Really evidenced their focus on puck possession.

I'll be curious to see if Colborne was at centre due to the need to ice two full teams, or whether the Flames intend to move him back there permanently. I suspect the former

In my opinion Knight is in direct competition with Arnold for organizational status. Neither makes the team this year, but one could be the next Joel Otto.

Hopefully these go away ... my Surface (Windows8) jumps all over autocorrect all the time so you have to add every player to the dictionary to avoid it.

Colborne, not Colburne
Corban, not Corbin

Hard to really make a read on the game as the Oilers kept most of their better players at home.

As did the Flames with the game in Edmonton. This was always setting up to be easy wins for both home teams

Both teams did the same thing.

agree it was hard to tell based on the quality of competition, but Gio and Brodie looked heads and tails above everyone else on D.

Not a lot of work for Hiller, but he sure can handle the puck better than many of our tenders of late.

Was it just me, or did Gaudreau and Colborne look like they had zero chemistry? Gaudreau kept looking like he was expecting Colborne to do something different, was getting open for passes that never came, ect.

Agreed, I'd much rather see a more complete team for both sides with maybe 4-6 people trying to make the squad.

Mind you that just comes later in camp. Just excited some hockey is back!

Great write up. If I were a grammar Nazi I would make a comment about instill instead of install but I am not… ah crap.

Agreed - no chemistry at all.

To be expected for both teams.

What I found amazing though was - assuming these were long shots trying to impress - the total lack of effort from the Oilers. Didn't expect them to be good, but I did expect them to be fighting for jobs.

Thought money hands was head and shoulders the best forward on the ice, which is fantastic

Didn't really like what I saw out of knight, seto, kulkin and kulak. Didn't really notice klimchuk except for when he got pile driven into the ice(pretty sure it was klimchuk, anyways)
