Surprised not to see Ferland in either line-up.

Really looking forward to these line combinations. That baertschi-Reinhart-Byron line especially. Lots of hustle and smart players on that line to go with great skill too.

Also interested to see gaudreau with someone like setoguchi. Gaudreau tends to drive puck possession while Seto isn't shy about shooting the puck... Could make for an interesting combo.

Interesting to see Colborne lining back up at center. He seems to be a much better fit on the wing, battling along the boards, with less responsibility in his game. Is it just for training camp or do the Flames see him back down the middle?

Where are you?!

I was also planning to attempt a 4am wakeup to watch the game, but with work shortly after, I don't think I will make it.

I'm also wondering about the YouTube thing. For the young stars they had it up pretty quickly on YouTube after the game was over. Maybe I just devote 100% to the home game and avoid any news about the away game, and then watch it on YouTube later.

Darn. Didn't expect tickets for a pre-season game to have those kinds of price tags.

Oh well. I'll watch them split screen at home.

Is this being streamed on YouTube though?

Looks like just Sportsnet ca, which leads me to to believe it won't be archived.

They are probably just experimenting with Colborne at center for this camp.

I don't think they are set on seeing him back down the middle, but it wouldn't hurt to try him there during camp. If he shows improvement, the Flames will have another guy who can be a capable fill-in at center.

But assuming Backlund will be healthy before the season starts, I don't see Colborne centering the 4th line behind him, Monahan, and Stajan. There is more scoring potential with Colborne playing wing on the top three lines.

Here in Edmonton tickets are dirt cheap.

I would imagine it would just be experimentation on whether he can still win some FO's, as well as playing a center role. Makes sense why they've been having Raymond and Hudler play on the RW. It just makes their lineup more flexible/easier to mix up when the real season starts.

There are a few guys that are left off that are mildly surprising. I thought they would sit some of the vets early to give the kids some more ice time early.

Apologies if I missed it... but was Ferland said to be experiencing any kind of mild injury?

Or could this just be a matter of there only being so much time and space to look at certain players and he'll simply slot in the next game?

Haven't heard about an injury. I think it's time and space. He's shown a lot of good things so far and I think management might want to use these first preseason games to assess guys that haven't quite jumped out like he has yet... Guys like Reinhart or Arnold for example.

There's gonna be an epic multi screen hockey party going on in my living room. Just hoping to hell the streams aren't choppy. My internet isn't great as is..

Maybe they just want to make sure that his Corrado punching hand is fresh for the first Canucks game?

I'm torn on the games. I may be one of the few that watches the one in Edmonton. I want to see what baertschi and Granlund can do. Also want to see wolf again (watching that Dino stream didn't do me any justice), and continue watching Austin Caroll, who has impressed me up to this point. Then again, Johnny G. I guess I'm just happy that this is my toughest decision I'll have to make today.

No Smith, and no Ferland?

Kinda disappointed by this. Two power forwards not dressed? They hurt?

Predictions tonight?.................Pain..................

I think Calgary loses both games, yet abuse the oilers badly in scraps and hitting. Gaudreau survives, yet he is still cheap shotted.

After the game the fans want blood, BOA is re kindled.

If its a boring game I will go down to either rink and scrap with wolf, just to make sure someone gets their butt kicked ( don't hold me to that statement ).

Taking my boy to his first ever game. Pretty excited... also pretty excited that if he pulls the pin and wants to go home in the second I won't miss more than a preseason game.

Funny enough it's only now that I remember my childhood and my dad taking me to games and then being so confused when the home opener would be advertised few weeks later. I always just assumed somebody made a mistake and ran an old ad.

Keys to victory for the Oilers:
- Toe drags
- Jersey tosses
- Water bottle smashes
