Imagine how slow things would've gotten if they'd left the UK...
heh
getting back to the night in quebec, they counted 5 million votes in about 3 hours. Those 3 hours were just tense drama, the news channels could not keep up.
Here's a clip of the declaration, watch the numbers continuously jump, imagine watching that live.

Kind of embarrassing that scottish citizens are cheering for a vote which says that they don't have enough confidence in themselves and have to rely on their big brothers from england. Sad show of fear over self belief.

Does Alberta/quebec/whomever staying in Canada suggest we don't have enough confidence in ourselves?? Or is the more simple answer that being independant wouldn't benefit Scotland or their people.

There appears to be a lot of things that happen at 16 in Scotland. As mentioned, they can leave school, start working, get married, drive, they can own a pet, by lottery tickets, join the armed forces, drink while having dinner in a restaurant.
In a word, Yes. We have 5 million people in Scotland including some very smart minds. I have no doubt that we could have managed our affairs perfectly well. I'm sure Quebec would have found a way too.
It will be the same old same old in Scotland for the next 10-20 years and we will continue to be shown the sh1 tty end of the stick
A missed opportunity in my opinion but it's the will of the people and we will all have to live with it

Commiserations, I may not have thought the yes side made any sense but I have no doubt this is very painful for those that supported it.
Ethnic nationalism fails again. Hopefully the newly formed divisions in Scotland don't start to fester.
It had very little to do with Ethnic nationalism. It was mostly to do with disatissfaction with a political system which does not reflect the opinions of the majority of Scots.
It's a mistake to think this was about Scottish people disliking English people.
