Isn't the cable for the 6 just the same one as for the 5? Surely they didn't change it again...

Sliver, for cables just make sure they're MFI Certified cables and you'll be OK. They should run about $15-$20. Going cheaper isn't worth the hassle/risk in my opinion.

The cables are the same for 6 as they are for the 5.

The Source in North Hill Mall? You rarely see anyone in The Source to start with but North Hill is usually deserted so you might have a good chance there. Last time I was in, they looked to carry a good selection of phones. Might be worth a call to see if they have any.

Anyone notice their display looks dimmer with IOS 8? My brightness settings (5S) are the same as before but the screen looks darker.

No, but I noticed that they lowered my brightness setting - it's usually at half but it was at one quarter after upgrade.

Woah, I just checked pricing through Telus (probably the same everywhere) and a 64 gig iPhone 6 is $375. I could get an 80-gig Galaxy S5 for $0 (16 gig phone and I already have a 64 gig micro SD card). I'll talk to my rep as I'm on a business plan so maybe I can get a better deal, but there's no way on god's green earth the iPhone is worth a $375 premium over the S5 IMO.

It is when there is 4 million presold. I agree with you though. No chance I'm picking one up now.

For sure - I have no problem with Apple charging whatever they want. If people want to pay that much, go nuts. I'm not going to, though.

Loving iOS 8 so far. It could have only had the 1password integration and calendar/forecast widgets and I'd be ecstatic. If anybody is curious, I picked up agenda+ and forecast+ for my widgets and they're working really well. The move toward a more Android-like level of customization is outstanding.

4S actually. Sadly that means my 1password integration is just a button that prompts for my (very long) password, but it's light years ahead of where it was.

Gotcha. My wife's work phone is the 5S so I'll get to play with iOS8 tonight.

How is the performance? Couple articles I read indicated that the 4S becomes even more sluggish, so I have held off updating my phone.

I'm in the same boat, but my coworker upgraded his and says all seems to be good. Might take the plunge later today.

Please leave an update here. My wife is hesitant to upgrade her 4S right now

Seems fine on my iPad 2 which is almost the same hardware. Been running it for about a week now.

I don't however do very much with my iPad though...

I take back everything I said about not wanting an iPhone 6.

Now I want one more than ever.

Neato.

Tech fanboys, man, they're weird. The fanboys of the dominant companies are annoyingly proud but seem to keep to themselves (because they're on top, so who cares what anyone else is doing?). The fanboys of the less significant companies always squawk about like they've got to prove something. Perhaps even some weird duty to anyone who explicitly likes Apple to "inform" them of why they're wrong.

Some of the comments in the OnePlus thread are pretty passionately positive. Would seem strange to roll in there and talk about the why it isn't as good as the iPhone. Sometimes it's nice to just let people collectively enjoy something that isn't harming a single soul (anymore than any other similar product).

You see it with everything though, as pointed out, it's just one of those "the world could be better without" kind of things.

To Mad Men watchers it's like this:

Ginsberg (Android fanboys): "I feel bad for you."

Don (Apple fanboys): "I don't think about you at all."

I never realized that the iOS previously lacked widgets. I'm glad the Apple folks are finally starting to get to enjoy the benefits of widgets.
