Can I interrupt this heated debate to ask a stupid question? Is this event even governed by the NHL? Honest question, it's not even technically a pre-season game so are they even able to invoke disciplinary action?

Since it's hosted by the NHL teams participating, they would be under the NHL insurance policy for the tournament so I'd say it would be governed by the NHL.

Corrado said, "I saw an opportunity to make a hit on one of their skill players." What makes you think that his intent was to hurt him. I think it is at least as likely—perhaps moreso—that he missed his check and carelessly reacted without thinking about what he was doing. you are suggesting a level of premeditation that I have a very hard time believing from everything we saw and from what we know.
I think every hit is thrown with the intent to hurt and since this is hockey, to also separate the player from the puck. Since Johnny had already passed the puck, the sole reason for the hit was to hurt.

Seriously? You know the difference. Come on now. How about "the intent was to hit him", not "the intent was to hit him dirty"

Yeah, I just had some problem with the take that hits aren't done with the intent to hurt. This hit was probably a last second reaction, not meant originally to be dirty. His bragging afterwards was a little much though.
