I like Smith, from the limited viewing I've seen but your usual wet blanket schtick is really starting to run it's course. I'm assuming you've already made a list of failed big Oilers thus making Smith fail as well.

We won't agree on prospects much.
You think I'm a wet blanket, and I think you are unrealistically high on prospects across the board.
I don't really care if you want to get excited about a lot of prospects, but reality says 80% of them are going to bust, and even guys like Boyd who are considered successful picks by most metrics (ie 200 NHL games) are pretty underwhelming overall.
If you get upset when a poster falls more on the skeptical side you can try just ignoring the post in the future.

Yeah, he has been progressing nicely. Looks good in the tournament too. If he can keep his head on straight he might have a future in the top nine.

Smith was a late bloomer but has been progressing very rapidly. I don't expect you to follow the Flames' prospects, but simply arguing on points and ignoring who he is as a prospect is nothing more than trolling.
Smith is a better prospect than those guys you cited and has a very good chance of being a much better player.

There's points, and there is also the fact that he hasn't really done anything offensively in this tournament despite being gifted the best possible line mates.
He's only been noticeable to me when he's been running people over. He does that well for sure.

I actually Gaudreau was a poor linemate for him.
Gaudreau is all speed, open ice, and chances off the rush, Smith needs to be planted in front of the net or cycling on a line that does it's dirty work in the corner.
More intrigued to see him tonight with Granlund and Ferland. Personally think those two will fit his skill set better.

Like who, specifically?
I'd say over the past 2-3 years I've been pretty honest about prospects. Never getting too excited about them. I'm sure you can find posts from 10 years ago when I was 20, but recently? Not at all.
I find going on another teams board, continually being a wet blanket, saying this team will fail because your team did previously, bizarre. And I could ignore you, but it's a lot easier to point out your continued errors. Still waiting for proof when stat guys were "ringing the alarm bells" about Rob Schremp before anyone else, btw.

This is Mudcrutch79 on Schremp in November of 2004.
" I don't know, it just seems like a bad indicator to me. His +/- is astonishingly low, considering he's a leading scorer on one of the elite junior teams of all time, at least as of right now. His scoring numbers are obviously heavily inflated by the PP-all things being equal, I'd rather have a player who produces at ES. If he can't be a dominant ES player in the O, it strikes me that his chances of being one in the NHL are low. If his chances of being a dominant ES player in the OHL are low, his chances of being a dominant NHL player are low. Obviously too soon to make a call one way or the other, I just don't think it's as rosy as it appears."
So there's that.
I seem to remember you practically guaranteeing Nemisz was going to be a full time NHLer even after he failed to do much in the AHL. I could go look up quotes if you really want. I've never really seen you be critical of any Flames prospects, just attacking people (Flames fans included) that are.
Please provide some proof of you casting doubt on a few Flames prospects to prove your case.

Is that quote from MC before anyone else was worried about his game? November 2004? Doesn't look like it. You could tell he was a questionable NHL player from draft day due to his poor skating. Don't think this is a case of stats based guys "ringing the alarm bell" before anyone else, like you claimed.
I was never big on Nemisz, was pretty big on Pelech, maybe that's what you're thinking of? Though you're going back to 2005 though, that pretty much proves my point.
If I'm cool on a player I'll usually won't say much, don't see much fun in the wet blanket routine so I might say a piece once then move on. Not a big fan of Kulak, Kanzig and some others but why harp on it continually. When it comes to prospects nowadays I'll usually give my thoughts, pros, cons but won't make a prediction either way. Too many variables and even the good players won't make it, numbers game and all.
