This kid is history's greatest monster. History has shown that teaching responsibility is hard, and that banning something ALWAYS works, and this kid is circumventing the authority of the local school principal.

it's the same principal. Selling a banned substance on school property is a punishable offense.

You'd hope the school considers the difference however when deciding the punishment (ie. length of suspension). This can't be the same punishment handed to the kid found smuggling far more serious things.

Sorry, are you saying there is extra sugar in juice, beyond what is there naturally?

I think the take away for me in that article is:

I am still fine with my kids having juice, but I will say that portion size is important.

Like most things in life moderation is the key.

That didn't say the juice had extra sugar added, rather it was consentration of natural sugar that created problems. (unless I read the article wrong while sitting on the phone).

Juice in general has a lot of sugar in it, the only thing going for it is it has some vitamins.

Eating fruit is better than drinking it.

I agree with everything in moderation -

Things like 'Sunny D", TANG etc have added sugar...you are better off buying "unsweetened" etc

almost everything has "added" sugar - even bread ect...

Well Sunny D and tang also aren't juice either.
I am pretty sure that Five Alive which is a juice blend has a boat load of added sugar. I'm not saying it isn't better than pop; just that some things sold as juice do have added sugar.

I thought if it said JUICE on the container it had to contain no added sugar.
5-alive doesn't use juice on the label does it? I thought it was one of the beverages.

Yeah Sunny D and Tang falls into the Fruit Drink catagory, coloured sugar water.

I will still drink juice, and let my kids drink it, but I will do it in moderation (not that we don't now actually). Just don't tell me milk is bad as well........
