From the article.

The bylaw amendments passed by an 11-2 vote at city council Monday, with Nenshi and Coun. Druh Farrell opposed.

So pretty much almost all of them.

I mentioned in the other discussion that it appears as though all council members except for Nenshi and Farrell are with the status quo of the current system and commission. This is based on the 11-2 vote in July regarding new limo and sedan bylaws.

Edit: Beaten to it.
There will be another report specifically on how Uber could fit into Calgary come September.

I would like to give credit to Resolute for coming up with the traffic kidney name. It wasn't I who coined it; when I moved there he whined about me living up there with the awful traffic kidney and ever since, that's what I call it.

Bunk; whats the deal with the utility construction @ Bow / 37th ST SW?
Seems like emergency work, which has had Bow down to 1 direction either way for the last 2 weeks. EXCEPT THERE HAVE BEEN NO WORKERS THERE ALL WEEK.
Nothing more enraging after sitting in traffic for 45 mins to get to the contruction from downtown, only to see it is still a ghost town.
If no one is working, then an additional EB and WB lane could be opened, as the physical construction is only on 1 WB lane.

I think I saw a couple of workers there. Wait - that was last week. I have tried to avoid it this week, but the alternate routes are also clogged.
Seriously though, this is really messing up Sarcee, 17th, Crowchild, and all of the other routes that people are using to avoid it. The city website simply says that it is supposed to go until September 20th, but gives no reason for the construction.

I don't get how this constuction is so poorly managed. Does no one from the city have to approve the traffic detours and lane closures to make sure they're logical and as minimal as possible?
The Bow Trail construction has now moved up half a block beside the Shell on a side street, but they've kept both lanes on Bow Trail closed, even though, again, there is no one working there still.

I think my favourite part of this fall construction is that I saw barely any road crews all summer and September hits and they decide to rip up half of the roads in the NE. On top of that, they also arbitrarily close entire intersections (I'm looking at you Metis and 80th and half the intersections on 36th) on Sunday morning with no signs anywhere that the road is closed ahead. Just a detour that takes you WAY out of your way unless you pull an illegal u-turn. AWESOME.

She was with Environment before. 5th Municipal Affairs Minister since the Mayor was elected, so hopeful to move forward the agenda a bit quicker.

Hi, Bunk. I've overheard very briefly Druh Farrell's interview on the radio at the new Library public announcement. She said something to the effect of the new library itself costing "only" $70M, while the remaining budget out of $245M total being spent on accommodating the tunnel and LRT challenges. My recollection could be wrong, as this was in the car at a low volume. But if it is, in fact, correct then I see a huge fiscal issue with this. This would effectively mean that the City is spending $175M on the site to build a $70M asset, which looks really bad, if so. Please comment. Thanks.

You either misheard or she was wrong. Encasing the tunnel has a cost, but generally speaking it's a pretty straight forward build ($20-$25m) Plus the library does not have the significant cost of building underground parking/deep foundation.

With all the repaving going on in the NE, why have they not fixed the worst portion of McKnight? Understanding Deerfoot to Barlow on McKnight is probably a logistical nightmare to close for repaving, it's got to be one of the worst portions of road in the city.

That section is pretty bad but I think that Shaganappi between Memorial (or Bowness Road -whatever that portion is actually called) and the crest of the hill just north of the Children's Hospital is worse. Regardless, both sections are terrible and hopefully slated for repair in the near future.

Can you provide the budget numbers and the total square footage of the new library building?

Why do you feel entitled to make idiotic statements and conclusions like this one? What particularly weird did you find in my question to our Mayor's right hand man?

Why? You and I disagree on most issues related to municipal policy and politics, but we don't make it personal. You have opinions that I challenge and vice versa and we try to make a point or argue a point. This guy is calling me for the second time on a personal level without obviously having any clue of what my questions are really about. What would be an appropriate reaction?
