Also highlighted this in Backburner section of CP, but for those who don't venture into those parts:
E-Mac might have outdone himself
"This update (done with no change to the rankings) expands the previous list of prospects covered from 180 to 400, adds the stats from the recently completed Ivan Hlinka Tournament, updates the projected 2014-15 teams for many of the prospects and also updates the height and weight for most of the MHL, OHL, QMJHL and WHL prospects. The USHL is usually the last to release their height and weight updates."
The Introduction (link)
- "Coming to the #CHL"
- "Growth Spurts"
- "Route: #NCAA"
The Spreadsheet/Table - 400 prospects, One place! (link)
Who are the future Flames amongst those lads?

Id take hanifin, hes pretty much a gaurenteed top pairing dman. His iq and skating would allow him to be a shutdown top pairing guy even if he doesnt translate offensively. but he has a great shot and great skating so i expect him to put up points. i think his floor is where brodie is at right now, with the potential to be like a ryan suter.

Pretty evident that Treliving has made a concious effort to address the lack of right-handed dmen this summer.

I am trying to look up through the NHL draft history, if there has been a NCAA D man taken top five on a draft ever. Is Hanifin going to be breaking some new ground here? Or will he slip.

Is Hanifin playing in the NCAA just a product of his age? Jack Johnson and Erik Johnson both played NAHL for 2 years before going to NCAA.
Also:
Ryan Whitney - drafted #5 in 2002 out of Boston University.
Scott Lachance - drafted #4 in 1991 out of Boston University.
Aaron Ward - drafted #5 in 1991 out of University of Michigan.

I saw right winger Daniel Sprong play on Friday in Charlottetown's first game of the season. He has really bulked up in the off season weighing 192 lbs. now. I was concerned that it might be a problem but he is just as fast and shifty as ever. He dished out a pretty heavy hit too and I think his shot is heavier with the increased strength. He sees the ice pretty well and made some nice set up passes and scored an important goal.

I really hope we are picking him if we are picking in the 7-10 range. The Flames could use another top end RW prospect next to Poirier.

I'd go with Hanifin over Kylington as well, but I'd be over the moon for either. Both look to be spectacular D-men. It'll e interesting to see how each fares this season. I could see Kylington overtake Hanifin over the course of the season.

Is there any concern that Kylington is only 6 feet tall?

Is Kylington like an OEL 2.0? Has great skill in both defense and offense?

That is true, but I don't think you can expect him to be more than 6'1" once he's done growing (if he indeed is only 6' now... perhaps it just hasn't been updated for a year).
Giordano and Brodie are around that size, but I certainly think their lack of size is something that holds them back for truly being recognized as top defencemen.

Not really sure I buy into that line of thinking at all. Duncan Keith, Ryan Suter, PK Subban, Erik Karlsson and Drew Doughty are all right around that size range. Perhaps they (Gio, Brodie, Kylington, whoever) won't be able to physically dominate like Chara or Weber, but being only 6 foot or 6'1 is a non-issue in my mind.

First I've heard of Connor McDavid being "tough". Is there much truth to that?

Kylington is more of an offensive force than a defensive one, but is no slouch in his own end. He had a lot better #'s than OEL at the same age.

Where the Flames had almost everything go right last year, Buffalo had almost everything go wrong. I don't know if they'll finish 30th or not, but they could rebound.
