refresh my knowledge.... is a blatant high stick out of your own zone not a face off in your zone?

Not if a Flames player touches the puck first following the high stick.

My 3 stars tonight:
1) Arnold - Hope to see him on a PKing line with Bouma
2) Carroll - Even before the goal, he played physical and got some decent chances.
3) Elson - Played really well the whole game
Bennett and Gaudreau were good too, but I liked what I saw from my top 3.

Yakimov looks like the better Yak in Edmonton.
Kinda concerning because he was one of the best players in NHL 13.

Just got back from the game.
Atrocious officiating. That was a classic example of a team of officials trying to make them game about them. Way too trigger happy with the whistles, and when they realized how badly they were skewing the game, they turned to even-uppers, making the majority of that game played short handed by one side or the other.
Really crumby to have a game ruined like that. But that's hockey for you. Glad it's back, but with it comes the odd game reffed THAT badly.

From fans of other teams this year, I expect to hear a lot of: "how'd they get this Gaudreau guy? 4th round pick? What?"

Pretty choppy game with all the penalties. Oilers PP was the difference.
That said, plenty of undisciplined penalties by the Flames.
Really liked Arnold and Hathaway tonight. Ramage stood out on D. Bennett is getting his legs. And Johnny was his usual self.

I'm just glad that this was a prospect tourney game, not a regular season game. There'd be an endless stream of anger about the refs.
The Flames played good mostly. McDonald needs to get better, but that just takes time.
Can't complain when Gaudreau and Bennett score and were dangerous when they actually had the opportunity to play.

Truculent!

Don't know how you can blame the refs in that game. Kanzig and Smith were absolutely brutal out there and deserved every penalty they got. That was some truly ugly hockey.
