Tools of convenience. It's where you find what's floating around in the Oiler prospect pool.

Am I alone in liking Carroll? He's a pretty big body with decent speed who's competent offensively. He likes to hit things too. He kind of reminds me of a more offensive Bouma, except he doesn't block nearly as many shots.

Hoping to see the gaudreau-Bennett-ferland line crush the oilers tonight. Tough to get chemistry in such a short tournament but love the make-up of that line. Could be one of the top lines for the flames in 3 years.

I think Carroll is decent, I just don't see why they didn't sign him at the dev camp last year when he was there instead of using a pick on him this year, or sign him after the draft itself as it was unlikely that he would've been picked after us. Seems like a minor misuse of an asset.

I remember that question being asked to Treliving (I think?) after the draft. If I remember correctly they drafted him because they didn't want to risk losing him to another teams development camp.

In my opinion, seventh round picks are such longshots that if you do still see a player you do think has NHL potential, you should draft them even if it's a little inefficient. I don't know what the success rate is for seventh round picks, but it's probably around 2 of the 30 picks that turn into NHL players, so I think it's worth it to be a little inefficient if it allows you to draft one of them. Drafting a player that never suits up in the nhl is the most likely outcome of a seventh rounder, and it's also the least efficient imo.

Contract spots are assets also.

The only thing I noticed from that Edmonton Depth chart, is the bloodied mark from bashing their head with it after realizing the task they have....

I have to say, I'm disappointed Draisaitl and Nurse won't be playing. Even if we win, Oilers fans will just say their best players weren't playing anyway.

LOL, mentioned the Gaudreau goal to an Oiler fan friend of mine and he responded with, "yes, I saw it. Did you see Linus Omark's highlight reel? Same thing. Don't count your prospects before they've hatched."

I see what he's saying, but comparing Gaudreau to Omark is just silly.
