				 Wedding slideshow

			Hey, I've spent a good portion of this morning googling and sorting through wedding slideshow programs/formats, figured I would ask the CP collective.
 Have you made one? What software did you use?

			Simple, I like it. How long was your slideshow?

			Please don't make your slideshow too long. Ten minutes or less is the best more than that people will just be looking at their phones.

			Ya I was thinking closer to 5.. I've MCed a few weddings and attended many more.. the only thing more painful than a long slide show is a speech full of inside jokes.

			Made a few slideshows with Sony Vegas. Good program, but takes some time getting used to.

Whenever a slideshow comes up I can't help but groan/cringe. I think you have the right idea with a 5 minute max.

			If it was up to me I would go up to the front and say thanks for coming, everyone go grab a drink. But we all know weddings aren't about the groom.. I do what I am told.

			I recently had to sit through a 20 MINUTE SLIDESHOW at a recent wedding. A slideshow that was 90% focused on the bride.
 Echoing what everyone else is saying - keep it to 5 minutes max and try to make it 50% bride and 50% groom if you can

 Also, try and use pictures that aren't full of people drinking and partying.

			You can go over 5 mins, but you have to keep it entertaining.
 Throw some self deprecation in there and some romance. Tell a story with the pictures.

 I tell many people to keep it below 12 mins. The longest I was forced to make was 23 mins and it was hard to keep people in their seats and I worked my butt off to keep it entertaining. That slide show was more about their ego than showing off their life.

			When I did ours it was one song. First verse her, second verse me, third verse us.
 I don't think it was over 5 minutes. At the end we had a few one liners come up on the screen. It got a good reaction from the crowd.

			The one I did for my friend was around 5 minutes as well, with 5 different songs and about a minute each chapter:
 * childhood groom, applied an old film affect to it because we teased him as a cradle robber back in high school because his girlfriend now wife was so much younger at the time - played this old school nammer song since he was born in Vietnam.
 * childhood bride, born and bred albertan so picked the most redneck and appropriate song - "Hurtin Albertan" as that theme song
 * adult groom
 * adult bride
 * couple pics, with their song

 Did it all in Windows Movie Maker. Super easy and turned out great. I did a mix of both funny pictures and nice pictures.

			I forgot to mention I used Windows Movie Maker as well.
 Used the song "Ready to Start" by Arcade Fire.

			5 minute is perfect but the couple pays money for the screen and projector so they might wanted to show more than 5 minutes. The longest I've sat through was something like 45 minutes; it was torturous and painful.
 Less is more when it comes to showing your photos.

			Another option is to have the slide show playing through cocktails rather than as part of the program. By the end of the program everyone just wants a drink.

			As the wedding party was ready to come in and everyone was seated the slideshow started.
 It transitioned into jokes to warm up the crowd then a friend of mine who is a professional sports announcer introduced us.

 GreenLantern if you want to use my template to get ideas let me know and I'll tack down the video.

			The agonizing part for me is always been the moment where they go to present and the slideshow/computer/projector/operator don't know how to make it work for 10 minutes. Probably 9 out of 10 weddings i've been to. Just skip it, and let people browse a photo album if interested.
