I don't think the fact that a male dominated hockey board was going to vote this way was ever in question by photon, he was focusing on those that didn't and how much their opinion and sense of worth in the community means to the mods, site owner and the rest of the community.

The poll wasn't a "battle" to see who would win, with the "show me some ass" guys winning, so you can go around beating your chests about it and mocking the thread now. However, I'm really not surprised at all that you and others see it that way.

photon didnt start the poll , another mod added it later. it was surprising for some at the start as it started out with 40% of the vote within the first few hours.

and despite the valid concerns from other posters, there's many who don't agree with their perspective.

anyways, interpret the poll however you want. I take solace knowing it's a growing majority vote

Photon or other mods can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the intention of this thread and poll was never as simple as "Let's see if the majority of CP'ers want to keep a thread with half naked girls in it and if they do then case closed, everything is okay".

I'm pretty sure they knew, like all of us going in, that on a male dominated board the majority of users would want to keep it and wouldn't see much issue with it.

What they were really looking for was to give the minority a voice in the matter, and to hear arguments from the rest of the board and then go from there. Not just look at a poll and go "Okay, Easterngirl, Wittynickname, countless others that have weighed in with concerns; The BBQ's and EE's of the site have spoken, they "won" the poll, so everything is okay on CP and there's no need to dig further or take action".

Generally you get more accurate responses by making polls anonymous. Not sure why you think it shouldn't be that way.

The poll is not binding, nor going to be used entirely to fuel our decisions here. Nor is this just about this one singular thread in question, it is about how we as a site/community/moderator team choose to confront some of these issues.

Yeah that's about it.
This is certainly not a majority rules decision or case. But it is helpful to have that data to aid us in our decision making.

My own personal view is that if even 10% of the community find the thread offensive, that's good reason to debate its existence.

I think this is an important topic.

I assume that others, at least those that voted assume so as well. If they think it is important as well, then why not attach your "name" to your vote?

What do posters have to fear?
