Sticking with his off-season regimen and now at a svelte 208 — the lightest Ferland figures he’s weighed in a long time — he is anxious to hit the ice.

“Not playing a game since, I think, December 15, I can’t wait to get out there and start playing again,” he said. “It’s always a competitive tournament.

“Every year I come into camp, I feel like I’m maturing and feel better about myself and more confident. I’m just looking forward to playing here.”

Huska explained the importance of getting on the same page with head coach Bob Hartley’s systems, which will allow for seamless shuffling between clubs throughout the season.

“(The rookie tournament) gives us a first chance to see guys in game situations,” he said. “And that’s something we’re really looking forward to. At the end of the day, it’s up to us to start Bob’s systems and really give us an understanding on how it’s supposed to look through the course of the training camp and eventually the Flames training camp and throughout the regular season.”

Will be cheering for Ferland through this whole camp. He's had s### luck the past couple years, would love to see him show that his game and maturity is on the next level now and that he deserves nhl time this year.

But man these interviews got me crazy excited for hockey tomorrow!!

Yeah, I think he was pretty busted up and missed a lot of games so it isn't really fair to hold that against him. When healthy he was very good.

It should be streaming on their youtube channel, so you should be able to watch it from there if you miss it.

Ferland is 6'2, 208 pounds? Too small to play in the NHL, according to our resident obscure stats expert. Can't wait to see him steamroll a couple of the Jets prospects tonight!
