I'm not sure if he agreed, but I do believe that Dallas Eakins was trying hard to get Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett to coach for this tournament.

A lot of the players are already in town from what I've been told.

Based on the players' various tweets, Granlund and Ortio flew in together from Finland yesterday, and Agostino, Gaudreau, and Arnold are coming in tomorrow.

“This is your first real evaluation tool,” says Treliving. “From an individual basis . . . seeing how people fit within a team concept, seeing if there’s chemistry with certain people. Who rises above? Who struggles?

“Having said that, it’s still very early. Rookie games. Rookie camp. A lot of nervous players. There’s probably not a whole lot of chemistry right off the bat, with just throwing everybody together. So you have to tread cautiously to a certain extent, but it will be exciting to . . . get everyone together.”
Quote:
“There’s a greater emphasis in getting a read on some of these guys,” says Treliving, in his first season with the Flames. “You saw a lot of them in July, so you want to see where they’re at now in September, how their training has gone, who’s done what. Now you’re getting a little better sense of their game . . . and what they can do in a competitive environment.”

Treliving is an awesome GM. Great hire on Burke's part. He's making all of the right moves/decisions.

I think Treliving has yet to say something I did not agree with.

Maybe asshandler can keep an eye on them at the airport for us. You know, make sure everybody gets on the flight okay. And has a healthy bowel movement.

Funny you should say that but Mason McDonald was on my flight from Halifax that just landed.

There's a Calgary Flames bag all alone on the carousel. Hopefully he made the connection in Toronto! Not sticking around to see though.

Will updated height/weight stats be released after Thursday's physical testing?

I'm going to the Charlottetown Islanders home opener on Friday. Too bad we don't have a McDonald clone to play in that game.

100% agree. Every time he speaks I become very optimistic about the trajectory and development of this team. Burke+Treliving+Pascal+Conroy are going to be a phenomenal front office.

Between the snow falling this week as the anticipation of a return to hockey... This has to be the slowest week of the year! I can't wait for this tourney to start... Gaudreau is going to rip it up!
