The other thing about this announcement is that is yet another we're going to try list. It's sept 8 and they can't even put a date on the September patch (unless I missed it). Certainly looks like a purchase won't even be considered until November sometime for this guy.

No mention of patching "sim to next shift" into Be A Pro.

i thought i read that there is a NHL 15 review embargo, where critics given their advance copy aren't able to release their review until a period of time AFTER the official game release. Is this common practice?
the pessimist in me reads this as:
- We're going to get crapped on, let's ensure all the pre-order folks have paid up before the crapstorm hits the web
the optimist:
- There are certain enhancements/fixes that will be made available as part of launch release (ie. how we used to get tuners on release day as soon as you loaded up the game the first time) that they feel could affect how the game scores with the critics

Yeah he dodged that one for as long as he could, until finally answering that he didn't know if it was going to be patched in.
Will be interesting to see what happens at EA Vancouver after this, in the past EA hasn't had much patience with teams that produce failures with a large public backlash.

Hahah wow, how the hell did 3 stars miss launch. It's not even gameplay!

I doubt that was a priority when they don't even have all their old game modes in.

The mode is completely unplayable without it.
He also seems to be avoiding questions about editing players, and AHL in Be A GM. So it's safe to say none of those are priorities right now.

I believe he said he wasn't sure about sim to next shift, editing players, and the AHL making it it.

If you read the same thing I read then it was from a reviewer/review site and they indicate that is typically not the case. I've never really kept track of things to know. I suspect most review sites don't release a review until day of or a day or so before. You'd think a company wouldn't care provided the reviewers have access to the day 1 patch which in this case we know they do. So no reason not to be able to release a review...unless there is something to hide.
If they put in what they say by end of October what you will have is a full price NHL 16 demo that is still a pretty bare bones game.

This is a common practice for games. Review embargos are often placed on mediocre to bad games for exactly the reason you mentioned and this kind of thing is a good reason to avoid pre-ordering. From what I've been reading it sounds like NHL 15 is in a pretty sad state feature wise. Throw a review embargo on top of it and I'd be cancelling my pre-order (or at least waiting to see some reviews before opening it). Maybe it's just me but I get the impression the video game industry is increasingly pushing out a lot of unfinished crap with the promise of fixing it post release. I find this unacceptable. If I am buying a game on release it had better be feature complete and work.

Yet it's in the first update and before OTP.

I would assume putting the 3 stars back in is much less work than putting OTP back in. Same goes for the draft.

I have pre-ordered the game back during E3 so I am not paying full price so I will keep my order.
Are the next gen consoles that much harder to program or is this simply EA being lazy?

Oi, didn't realize there was no AHL in Be A GM. That's kind of a game breaker. I just started getting into Be A Pro/Live the Life mode on 14, but if you can't sim to your next shift then there is no way I'm touching that mode.

If it's anything like NHL14's Be a Pro/Live the Life, you can simply turn off line-changes and have your player play the entire game.
I know it kind of kills the authenticity of the mode, but at least you wouldn't have to sit on a bench. It's how I played the mode last year, but I've no idea if that's even in an option in the new gen version.

Oh man, i seriously don't know what to do? While I agree with the majority of opinion in this thread and believe no one should buy either version of this game as EA doesn't deserve our money, that honestly just isn't an option for me as i need my video game hockey fix.
So do i buy the watered down PS4 version that has the new game physics, skill stick, dekes and graphics OR the PS3 version that's basically a slider adjusted NHL 14 but it has all of the game modes to choose from?

Ha taking out the 3 stars was comical. Whoever came up with that idea should be fired. Like seriously? The 3 stars is a hockey tradition. Its like selling a car without paint.
I want to see these updates from EA first. They have a horrid track record of talking big with promises but never deliver and gamers just keep waiting and waiting. NHL 13 was the last time that I was willing to play their waiting game. In NHL 13 and 14, it took them over 6 months just to put out basic basic stuff that they said they would patch right away after launch.
