Better numbers than our current set - so far so good.

Looks good, and better then the last couple recolored black templates of the primary uniform. Pants have somewhat of a stripe so don't look like leotards (and also, glad they're back to red pants on the road instead of black), and the helmet is good. Good font for the number at least, just like the Flames, sometimes a font for the name and number makes all the difference to a look of a jersey and uniform.

Still like the original 1994 alternates best...when they debuted on labour day 1994, first time anyone heard of them let alone saw them, was when they came out for kickoff in all black....they even wore something different for warmup, then changed jerseys and pants after warmup for the big reveal. Larry Ryckman's style.

Pvred and watched the above mentioned 2001 game.
There wasnt a late drive from the Stamps, or penalties on Edmonton's final drive, so my memory has failed a bit.

What must have fired me up at the time, instead of penalties, was the pure homerism of Edmonton resident John Wells on the pbp of TSN. Calgary took a huge lead (Ben Sankey ftw) but as the Esks chipped away, Wells was disputing calls against the Esks etc. As they got closer, it was on and on about Jason Maas and how he had pulled the team back a couple times in the previous games (including Labour Day in Calgary) and how great a story if he could do it again. Then, the last drive he flukes a throw and gets the long touch down, and Wells goes just bat #### crazy, as Esks take a 5 point lead with 45 seconds to go.

On the 110 yd interception for two points the next play, maybe the most nuts and most unique way of taking the lead back in all of football, maybe never to be seen again in such a situation that basically ends the game, and what would be a signature call for any announcer, Wells announces it as if he's announcing a car wreck, clearly gutted his Esks are going to lose. He quickly added though that no time was taken off the clock, implying the Esks had time to come back, while also forgetting the Esks had to kickoff.

When the onside kick fails, Ed Hervey talking trash, and AJ Gass (a few years away still from his helmet throwing embarrassment and overturned suspension thanks to Hugh Campbell calling up a Alberta Judge and Esks ticket holder to go over the CFL head) tries to punch the ball out of Sankey on kneel down. Classless.

Along with seeing the arrogant mug of Sean Fleming and Dan Kelpley, and the homer call, it rekindled the hate for the Eskimos, and solidfied that as the best regular season Stamps game I've ever seen.

It's not too bad getting someone in for a DUI as long as you know in advance and properly disclose it.

When someone lies about it though.....different story

Cornish wins Offensive and Canadian Player of the Week:

http://www.stampeders.com/article/cornish-pow-140902

Quote:
The veteran earned both the offensive and top Canadian awards after rushing for 163 yards and one touchdown in the Stamps’ 28-13 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos in the Labour Day Classic at McMahon Stadium. Cornish also had one catch for two yards.
Cornish’s rushing yardage came on 17 carries, which gave him an average of 9.6 yards per rush. It was the third game in a row against the Eskimos he has cracked the 100-yard plateau.
Quote:
This marks the 22nd time in Cornish’s career that he has been named Canadian player of the week and the fifth time he has earned offensive player-of-the-week honours.

Guess we know a little more why Bo said "I can't tell you what he said there is a camera right here" after his TD run.

Can't believe that this #### still happens in 2014.

Mitchell has handled it extremely well. Even as an opposing fan I've been a fan of his and saying he would be a star since his first training camp

Eskimo Statement
"The offensive comment made by Pat Watkins is disappointing and does not represent the values of the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club. Such language is not condoned."

Watkins Statement
"I apologize to Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, the Canadian Football League, the Edmonton Eskimos, fans and all who were offended by the insensitive remark I made on field following his touchdown. It was said in the heat of the moment and was a poor choice of words. I understand this language is not acceptable and will be more careful with my choice of words in future."

Interesting you should say that...

On riderfans.com there is a 10 page thread on how Mitchell is nothing but a little "wussy" (or a word that rhymes with that) because he apparently "ran crying to the media because his feelings were hurt". Not just a single poster either.

It is commentary like that that ensures the Prider fans standing at the top of the d-bag mountain.

It's definitely a minority who believe that, but the very fact that they're permitted to express such ridiculous opinions on that forum without getting absolutely torn apart by the rest of the members there speaks poorly on the entire community, in my opinion.

Dontt take me wrong on this, I find the comment to be insensitive as well...but...tadum...I think the word F_CK is horrible too and creates a negative view on the sex act loved between man and woman...errr or...man and man...whatever.
I played football for a few years and quite frankly I was called a LOT worse than that....even though its wrong and Im not condoning it.

/edit Im color blind so if the text aint green dont blame me

For what it is worth here is a thread from 2012 with me singing Mitchell's praises throughout before many people knew who he was. http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...=114007&page=5 I've been a fan of his since he came up north.

The thread on RF is a vocal minority but it is too bad the other posters aren't slamming them more. Not sure how Mitchell ran to the media when he was asked a question on twitter and simply responded with "Fine him". I don't post much there and do it under a different username but that doesn't matter.

All fan bases have their lousy minority that makes the rest of the fans ashamed. Winnipeg booed Durant off the field (obscenities and insults directed at him as he left the field) with an injury. I try to be fair in my commentaries even though I am certainly biased towards the green & white and like to think I do an ok job. This is definitely a pro-Stampeder board (for good reason) but it is my favourite place on the internet. Most of the time it is pretty good but there are some pretty unfair comments towards the Riders/their fanbase a lot of the time on here.

Sorry for the ramblings.

I think that's where the moderators (if they have any) at RF.com need to step in and remove some posts and start banning posters.

There is very little moderation there which is actually surprising given the size and amount of posters. The only people that get banned are posters from other teams that try to stay afloat in the carnage that is riderfans.com.

There were posters poking fun at Lulay's injury as well and lets not forget the years of "fried chicken" Nik Lewis comments, and endless Burris defamation. I'm surprised the Riders organization doesn't ever make suggestions to the site to moderate things more closely as it really does put the fan base in a bad light as it's easily the worst fan site I have ever seen as it's totally disgusting what is allowed to go on at that site. It unfortunately makes the Saskatchewan redneck stereotype look less stereotype and more reality as it seems that type of behavior is condoned on the largest enthusiast website in the province.

Will never happen. Understandably so, they play to their user base which is rabid Rider fans. Everything every other CFL franchise does (especially Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg)=bad, everything Rider=good. They have a GM who sexually assaults a babysitter? It was just a misunderstanding plus she was probably asking for it. GM leaves and goes to another team? He's a dirty child molester and we never liked him in the first place.

I agree there are good Rider fans out there, but for the most part they don't post on that site. I also agree that all fan bases have their own special group of "ambassadors" that the rest of the fan base is embarrassed by. Riders just seem to have more than all other teams combined. Which other team's fans threw beer cans at the opposing teams bench, so much so that the team had to move to the middle of the field until order could be restored? Which other team has fans taking swings at cops? Ask any of Edmonton, Calgary or Winnipeg which team is playing when they need to bring in extra cops to patrol the stands due to rowdy drunk and rude behaviour. Read any message board (here, TSN, the aforementioned site, cfl forums, etc.) and see which fans are by far the most homeristic and hypocritical with respect to their team.

It's a shame really. Riders used to be my second favorite team until the Danny Barrett / Roy Shivers era. Since then the growth of the d-bag fan has driven them to dead last - I cheer for Edmonton over them, and that's just sad.

Don't forget the manure poured on a players lawn. Has to be the low point in CFL fan history.
