That will teach you- if you don't shave "everywhere" then you won't have bleeding everywhere.

I use a manual razor as well. Used to use the Mach 3, but now I just started using the Fusion. I found those razors burn out a lot faster than the Mach 3 ones, however, they can be much easier on your face.
I shave in the shower w/ a manual, no razor burn and no spending $$$ on shaving cream, maybe try that if you are getting razor burn from a manual.
Used to use a cheap electrical, gave me bad razor burn.

Oooh I smell a mini makover!
Ok, the C.W. is that a straight razor is better, and I horrify my gay friends because I actually use an electric!! I have a good quality Philishave with all the bells and whistles--here's the deal with them: it takes up to a month or more to get used to them, it works better right after oyu get up and your fae is oily, use an electric pre-shave powder or liquid and for god's sake use a Balm, not something alcohol based aterwards (Nivea for men or something down at Quarra on 17th--your females will know the place--has good stuff) Yah, it won't get you as close as the straight razor, but for me time is important and having to lather up bothers me. Just clean it out and you can get two years out of the Phillishave blades if you only do it once a day.
Of course, I also use a couple other facial products after my shave, hehe

I use electric... a Braun. I shave with a blade now and then, but that's usually when I get super lazy and my growth is too long for the electric razor.
Besides, it's a lot quicker shaving my head every odd day with the electric than using the blade.

Well I use a straight Mach 3 with Gillette shaving cream...might change that with the above comment about the cream matters. But I don't like shaving everyday...even with an electric. For me using an electric would mean shaving the ENTIRE face...and I'm not a fan of the upper cheek hair becoming a regular thing. But I'm a hairy guy, so not most people will have that problem.

C'mon guys... Everybody knows the corrrect order for the three S's is sh*t, shower, shave...
Razors and foam is the only way to go. Of course, I've never tried an electric. Saying something like that is akin to assuming you know the other side of the helmet/toque debate.

You're supposed to toss a manual blade after every use? I don't think so. Disposable razors, yes. Blades you should be able to get at least 3 shaves out of. Otherwise, it would seem quite silly to pay $3-4 every time you shave.

Shaving the hairs on your upper cheek will not result in it growing back thicker or in greater quantities. If the hair is going to grow there, it will regardless. You may think that shaving it produces that result but it doesn't. By shaving you cut the hair across and give it a blunt tip rather than a whispy end that results from a new hair being grown from the folicle. The bluntness of the shaven hair is often mistaken for thicker hair as the hair is generally a uniform thickness down to the skin line as opposed to a gradually increasing conical radius that plateaus when the hair reaches it's maximum thickness as it does in new growth hair.

Sure, I'll go with that. 3 shaves and the replaceable blade is likely toast. Some people use the blade for weeks which wouldn't be good. So it's more like what...$6-8 a week? Call it $5 even and you're up over $200 a year where new blades for an electric are in the $60 range.
I'm not sure it matters though, and like the toque no toque discussion, it's whatever works best for you.

and if you're in my situation the blades for the electric razor are averaging out to be roughly $7per year!

Sweet - thanks for the tip of shaving after the shower! I've only done it once, but man what a difference. I usually shaved before, that way the shower would rinse off any gel that I missed, but if I get this good of a shave simply from changing when I do it, then I'm all for it.

Try a Mach5 from Gillete. At the Walmart in Northland they had a scanning error where the little intro packs were scanning in at 8.50 so I went and got one. That is the most amazing straight blade razor there is. I am able to shave Monday morning at the gym and dont need to shave the next for work - amazing.

Um, not sure what razors you use, but the Mach 3 and 5 from Gilette, I change the blades maybe once every 3 - 4 weeks (whenever the little green patch runs out). What is this every 3 days nonsense about?

Tru dat... I use the store brand double razors and only have to chuck them every 6 or 7 shaves. I'm no gorilla, but my jaw and neck are pretty coarse. Maybe is the shave after shower technique that is saving my razors.
For the record, in high school (like any adolescent boy), I sported a few unwelcomed (red) visitors on my face. A dude I worked with recommended shaving after I shower and the zits and razor burn was significantly less.
Now it's just habit.
And probably contributes to my 27 year streak of no ingrown hairs. knock on wood

It all depends on the mineral content in your tap water. If your water is very hard then you can get mineral deposits on the blades when they dry. Certain brands of razor blades are more prone towards gathering deposits due to their metal composition.
