how about changing the tone of the discussion from the right/wrong to the way some of the celebs are handling it?
Some are mad, JLaw and Mary Elizabeth.....some are saying the pics are fakes (maybe they are, how are we to know), and Beca Tobin (not even sure what ehr claim to fame is), seems to be handling it like a champ.
How do you think you'd react if you were a celeb whose pictures have been published.
I think as long as I was not doing anything too bizare, I'd be mad/frustrated - but I'd own it and say it was me and that i learned a very valuable lesson. Of course ti would be odd to be standing in front of a room of people who have seen all of you.
None of the womens careers will be hurt by this (assuming they are not shown frolicking in the barnyard of some else as "odd") and in 6 to 8 months we will ahve forgotten about this.......

The one most hurt by this is Verlander. He'll be heckled in baseball stadiums forever! Sports fans have long memories!

Apparently the ones with him and Upton are the most graphic, basically a sex tape.
What are they going to heckle him with though? "Haha I saw you have sex with Kate Upton". Ooo, burn.

Not ashamed to say that I saw the pictures.
Unless you're a 15 year old or a virgin, these are a big old meh for me and confirm that celebrities are generally nothing special.
Plus I think a bunch of them are fake.

Yeah ... he's going to go home and cry himself to sleep on a pillow made of $100's while he sleeps beside a wealthy supermodel. I'd email dick pics to the Pope if that's how I could cope with it.

I think they already have their own system for cultivating those kinds of pics internally.

Apple is acknowledging that computer hackers broke into the accounts of several celebrities to steal personal photos that have been posted online, a security breakdown that the iPhone maker blamed on the intruders' ability to figure out passwords and bypass other safeguards.
"After more than 40 hours of investigation, we have discovered that certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the internet," the statement read.

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander today confirmed that photos that hit the Internet last weekend showing him and supermodel Kate Upton in various states of undress are authentic.
“Oh, yeah. That all happened. Those pictures were definitely from my phone,” said Verlander. “So now everyone knows I have had repeated sexual relations with supermodel Kate Upton. That’s my truth, okay? I’m going to just accept that it is now public knowledge and move on.”

Seems more to do with the person than the actions. Celebrities get a lot less leeway it seems. I mean just look at the word being used in this thread and the media. Leaked. If someone had my personal information. I wouldn't say my information was leaked. I would say it was hacked or stolen. Leaked in this context almost sounds like it is condoning the stealing of the pictures (that could just be me).
Celebrities automatically lose a chunk of their personal life privacy almost as a requirement to becoming a celebrity. Which never made sense to me. Kim Kardashian is famous for making her personal life public. So it makes sense why people treat her as if she doesn't have a private life. But someone like Jennifer Lawrence isn't famous for her private life. She is famous for being in movies. Yet obviously as evidenced by these stolen photos people don't respect her privacy merely because she is a celebrity.
Of course it is not as simple as that. In our society you can't be a movie star and walk around like a regular Joe/Sally. So back to the "That's terrible that happened to you." / "You knew the risks involved." I think on a deeper level it's not "you knew the risks iClouding nudies" it's "you knew the risks becoming a celebrity."

How come all the women are being violated and shamed, and with Verlander (and other naked guys in the pictures), it's all "way to go, dude!" with virtual high fives?

Verlander was violated too. Who's shaming anyone?

Two of the girls were underage when the pics were taken. Bear that in mind if you are still looking for them. That is also going to hang a world of hurt onto the people involved given US authorities will almost certainly try to hang child porn charges on them.
Speaking of the people involved, a couple potential suspects. Including one genius outed by 4chan who claims to be innocent of the hacks, but instead was only trying to scam 4chan for money. Guess how well that worked out for him?

was this a phishing attack that got the "hacker" in?!?!
I thought that in this day and age, all password authentication on the web has some sort of a lockout mechanism after X tries that keeps you from logging in for a period of time or after an added layer of authentication... although not sure a "captcha" would be sufficient if this was an automated tool attack.

Sorry, I wasn't saying that anybody here was shaming anybody. I just thought it was an interesting dichotomy that the general chatter on the internet is "oh, these poor women have been violated and shamed and humiliated" (which they have), but nobody (at least that I've seen) has included the men in the photos in the group of people being sexually violated. Like I said, it's all "good on ya, bro!" as if men wouldn't have the same feelings that the women do.
As a man, I'd be hugely embarrassed if pictures and videos of me engaged in sexual activity were viewed by family, friends, colleagues and strangers regardless of how good looking the woman was.
Edited to add that I'm not trying to come off like one of those mens rights moron. Just thought it was an interesting thing to bring up.
