Moyes didn't deserve to be left in charge of such funds.
I know. We all know. But then he was a lame duck that was set up to fail.

My point is exactly what I said. David Moyes must be in a pub somewhere in Scotland being fiercely upset.

I'm still not convinced that the ruination of David Moyes wasnt some sort of sick joke by Fergie.

The Telegraph put it well.
"By splashing out on Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria, United have pretty much bought a new plasma screen television, but forgotten to replace the broken lock on the door. Still no world-class centre-half or defensive midfielder,"

How was he set up to fail? He had the funds available to him.

Because the team was already broken, and is still broken.

Fergie was able to squeeze every last drop out of that aging core to win the title in his final season, I believe he knew it was all downhill from there and knew there were major problems coming.

Until they fix their Center back and center midfield situation they will be hard pressed to make the champions league, let alone win the league.

Ok, what on earth is Borini saying?

"Finally the madness is finished! I protected the MAN and the player that I am today taking all the responsibility of the situation and for people who didn't want it and I m VERY happy with myself to have taken such an important decision!"

What people didn't want what responsibility?

Guessing he means that the teams involved in the transfer (Liverpool-QPR-Sunderland) didn't take the blame for the transfer falling through and placed the blame on his crazy "wage demands".

Borini is crazy. Especially for the money he wants.

Yes, the team wasn't in great shape BUT remember this is the team that cruised to the title. And he had a full summer to address needs with funds available.

Also, yes, other teams regrouped and strengthened but it is important to note that the expectations of Moyes was CL qualification and QF in all cup competitions (as per the financial report).

Hardly unrealistic expectations, in fact quite generous ones.

Moyes failed through his own incompetence, inability to spot and secure talent, inability to motivate, inspire confidence and a lack of tactical awareness.

What do you mean "for the money he wants"?

You mean for the money he is contractually entitled to? The way I'm reading it is that he refused to take a pay cut.

Moyes took over a team that won the league in a cakewalk. He also had funds available to him to strengthen the side while getting younger. It wasn't his fault alone, but he failed miserably and set the club back in a big way.

Moyes spent £27m on Fellaini. The thought of him having £153m at his disposal is ... ahem ... a bit scary.

Some of the reports were saying he was asking for 90k a week, while he is currently on around 35k.

He wanted a huge raise...

Quote:
It's difficult to see any upside from his decision. His wage demands were highly unrealistic, but both QPR and Sunderland were reportedly prepared to pay him more than he earns from his existing deal at Liverpool. It's easy to label Borini "greedy" based on reports he wanted 90,000 pounds a week from QPR, but by turning down the Londoners and Sunderland he's not only financially worse off, but he's also not going to be playing much football over the next four months.

I for one, would have loved to have seen that.

Just like Fellaini escaping the "worst EPL transfers", how does Woodward escape the transfer conversation from last summer?

He shouldn't. He's a toss pot.

I don't think he escapes. But at least he stuck to his words this summer and invested heavily. He still makes a lot of mistakes, but he's also learning quickly.

What United desperately need to learn is selling players, they are effing awful at that. The fact that they received less (!!!) money for Welbeck and Kagawa combined than Southampton did for Lallana alone is shameful.

It's an entirely different scenario though. Southampton were reluctantly selling their best player, United were getting rid of fringe players.

true and I understand that. Maybe Lallana was a bad comparison, but that doesn't change the fact that United did poorly ... we are talking about a league where a team offered £14m for Fabio Borini, while Shane Long moved for £12m. Rodwell virtually didn't play for two years and City still got £10m for him. In comparison £16m for Welbeck is a joke, especially due to the fact that it's Arsenal he's moving to.

Honestly I blame the transfer market on Woodward more than anyone else.

Even this year he failed to act on Vidal and you could see it was annoying LVG.

Last year it was him that tried to play hardball then ridiculously over payed for Felliani on deadline day when they had signed no replacements.

It definitely makes it worse that it was Arsenal. United have given a lifeline to club they desperately want to surpass.

I think Welbeck will do well at Arsenal.
