Need for Speed Rivals Goes in The Vault
To welcome our new members, we will be adding Need for Speed Rivals to The Vault in the coming weeks. Need for Speed Rivals will join Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Peggle 2, and Madden NFL 25 in The Vault as games you can play any time you want for as long as you want. Rivals lets you play as either cop or racer, and introduces the all-new AllDrive social system to blend the line between singleplayer and multiplayer.

Details on Upcoming Trials
September will also bring you two awesome opportunities to play new games early. EA Access trials for NHL 15 and FIFA 15 will be going live this month and we want to give you the details on what to expect. All EA Access members will get six hours with each game, and as always, you will be able to play each game five days before the release date.

NHL 15 will be coming to you this Thursday, so get ready to take the ice! Explore all of the modes and features and catch up with player ratings.

To the peeps that own both a PS4 and Xbone.... Do you think it is worth owning both systems? I have a PS4 and for some strange reason I feel the need to have both (if I can get an Xbone on a nice promo).

Within a couple months, it'll be worth owning one of the systems. Both? I personally wouldn't want to spend the money for a small number of titles. Granted, that's why I have the WiiU for the 'other' exclusives to fill my playtime.

Yea it's barely worth owning one at this point.

The Last of Us: Remastered is the only reason I've turned my PS4 on in the last few months.

its going to be a very busy fall for ps4 owners. the new sports games are looking amazing. madden is a genuine next gen experience, nhl looks improved a lot if your into that, and fifa looks like the best game on the friggin planet. gta v release looks pretty awesome too. im going to have a sprained wrist pretty soon i think.

I'm planning on picking up an Xbox One this weekend in preparation for the release of NHL 15. Just a question for the gamers in this thread that are far more in the know about these things: is getting the Kinect device worth it? Is it going to become an integral part of games and the system going forward, or does it just project to be the same novelty dust collector that its predecessor was? As a student, if I can save $100 now and not regret it then I will be happy.

i had the same conundrum last month.... my rationale were slightly different as i know i likely wouldn't be using it any time soon, but have a kid who could get into the kinect games a few years from now.

i decided to avoid buying it, as there's no reason to buy it now, and should anything interesting come about in the future, you can always buy it seperately later.

don't buy a kinect...mine came with one and I don't even have it hooked up right now...I think the motion gaming fad is done. Kids have been fine gaming with controllers for years this idea that dancing around the living room is better for kids is false. It just ends up in random flailing and they have no idea whats actually going on.

its not like you couldn't pick one up down the road in the unlikely even they actually make it worthwhile

Yeah, after checking things out it looks like the Kinect stand-alone peripheral will begin being sold in October for about $150. Should I ever need to buy it I'm willing to pay an extra $50 (probably less by the time it's useful).

If you don't have the Kinect, can you still perform all of the voice commands?

Kinect is a mixed bag. The best part is the voice commands, although I really only predominantly use around 4 commands: things like "xbox pause", "xbox mute", "xbox turn off", and "xbox record that". (Xbox On rarely works properly). Also if you want to skype on your tv its good to have.

Assuming they are going to add an easy way to record clips with the controller -- skip the kinect for now. Its also huge and can look like an eye sore on your entertainment cabinet.

I don't regret having it but I also probably wouldn't have bothered with it if they had the kinectless version when I bought the console.

If MS ever really starts delivering on its promised value with it, grab it later.

Agree, but if you can get a deal with kinect now I would get it. For voice commands alone even. I honestly cant imagine using it without, it makes certain things so much easier. Paying more later seems silly.

I am sure there will be deals on Kinect below the MRSP of $150. Kijiji has a bunch under $100 right now too.

I'm thinking that Microsoft put a $150 price tag on it to show the original bundle was "over delivering on value". They certainly couldn't have it priced below (or close) to the bundle difference - at or below the $100 mark.

I'm sure they'll move on prices in the future if they need to or if the market shows them the need via sales numbers.

Yeah, I dunno. Maybe I would miss it if I didn't have it. I guess I would recommend it if you want the full media hub experience, as it also turns on/off all your components.

If you would rather prioritize the gaming then skip kinect and put that $100 towards Xbox Live and EA access and have a selection of games to get started with.

Depends on personal budget and priorities I guess.

Kinect just looks too ugly for my living room...I can live without voice commands I guess since my kinect is stuffed in a drawer
