new xboxone user here.

I noticed that i can shutdown my console in the middle of a game session, and when i turn the console back on, the xbox dashboard/home allows me to re-enter the game at the exact same spot i left at.

Is this "safe" and the intended desire behaviour? the reason i ask, is thta when i was playing madden25 (downloaded from ea vault) many times when i returned to the game, it would be in a frozen state.

Its safe, its supposed to work that way, that's the suspend/resume feature. Worked with all the games I've played, they would just end up at the pause menu and you could continue where you left off.

Not sure why Madden would be freezing, sounds like its a specific issue with that game.

As long as you have the console set to shut down to sleep mode, not full shut down. It also allows for updates to happen automatically, I have yet to see a single message or witness an update on the system.

I think they tried to make it function like a tablet. I'm not sure if the system gets bogged down with too much running at once though. I give the system a proper hard reset on occasion -- hold the "x" button on the console for a few seconds, the console will fully shut down, and then you start it up again from a full reboot.

posting something that one system does something better than another makes you a fanboy on here apparently...be careful or wait that only applies to PS4 supporters

Zedge I believe owns both systems and it's one of those things you may only notice if you own both where one does it and the other doesn't as I have noticed. It's a nice feature and I'm glad my PS4 will get it.

Major Nelson explains today's update: http://majornelson.com/2014/08/28/st...linkId=9427515

New features:
Quote:
  • A new Media Player app: Play media files from an attached USB device with the new media player app – DNLA support for home media servers coming soon. Xbox One will support more formats than Xbox 360, including support for dozens of new file formats like Mpeg 2 TS, animated gifs and MKV, which will be added by the end of the year.
  • Party on in the new and improved Party App: Be the leader of your party with the new party leader setting. As the party leader, you can change whether the party requires invitations and you can remove others from the party. The updated app also lets you see what activities everyone in your party is doing and who is playing in the same game with you in addition to being able to quickly perform common actions like muting, joining, or sending game invites.
  • New features for SmartGlass: You can now post status messages from the Activity Feed and comments, or share items from both your Activity Feed and Game Clips. Along with the new comment and share features, a personalized Activity Feed has been added to your profile and messages have been updated to a new layout supporting a full conversation view. Additionally, we are adding the ability to record game clips directly from the Now Playing bar. Finally, for users who upgrade the app directly, we have introduced a What’s New page highlighting the features of each release.
  • “Xbox On” capabilities in Australia, Canada (French), Italy, Spain, and Mexico: New regions will have the ability to use the “Xbox On” Kinect voice command to power on their consoles when they’re in connected standby (Instant On) mode.
  • OneGuide comes to Brazil, Mexico, Austria, and Ireland: The ability to configure live TV listings will be available to all customers in these four countries. Also coming to these markets is the ability to use OneGuide and the Universal Remote Control in SmartGlass.
  • Boot to TV: Now Xbox One owners will be able to set their console to boot directly to television when coming out of connected standby.
  • Bandwidth Usage Display: Bandwidth Usage will show users how much bandwidth their Xbox One is consuming over a period of time, a useful tool for those who want to track against bandwidth caps set by ISPs in certain markets.
  • GameDVR deletes: Users will be able to choose multiple GameDVR clips to delete at once in the Upload app.
  • Save your Avatar Gamerpic: A new option to save Avatar Gamerpics to users’ OneDrive.

You can completely turn off the game DVR (which disables the ability to say "Xbox, record that!" if you do something really cool), or else each game will have to provide the option to disable it (since it is the game that is triggering the gameplay recording).

If you press A to skip viewing the replay in Madden NFL 15, the clip won't get recorded.

I have both consoles. and posting 'facts' does not = fanboy.

When you try to push an opinion as fact, that makes you a fanboy.

No, be honest. You get called a fanboy for using your own subjective preferences to objectively declare one console better than the other. [shrug]

sounds like a good place to declare one system better than another based subjective preferences

[shrug] I suggest you get comfortable with being called a fanboy, I guess.

I mean, look at the title of the thread and all! Look, I'm just saying be honest for why you're getting called a fanboy instead of pretending you're not doing anything deserving of the title.

Will this suspend resume behaviour work for games played on disc also (opposed to downloaded games in hard drive)?

lots of "fanboys" here in that case (like your constant defense of the Kinect earlier)

I own pretty much every system that has ever existed (including the 3 current gen systems and a high end gaming PC) so if I'm a fanboy for saying one system is clearly better right now so be it.

Games/features are subjective

PS4 being more popular currently and having superior hardware are FACTS
