Hamburg needs to pick up all 3 points this weekend at home against newly promoted SC Paderborn. I'm hoping they are able to pick up 25 points by the winter break in order to avoid another regulation scare in the spring.

I am a fan of how Alonso plays the game, just feel he is surplus. Wouldn't mind loaning out a couple of the youngsters so they get some real playing time now.

Not really...you want to use that youth against lower-end teams, not against Manchester City in the CL.

With no Thiago or Martinez, Xhaqiri is more of a winger that leaves CM withem with:

- Schweinsteiger
- Alonso
- Scholl
- Gaudinho
- Weiser

Bayern Munich's signing of Xabi Alonso from Real Madrid has received criticism from the German media.

A comment piece in Die Welt maintains that things at Bayern have got out of control since the imprisonment of former president Uli Hoeness.

For its comment piece, Die Welt used the headline: "Without Hoeness Bayern surrender themselves to Pep Guardiola,"

The paper maintains that it is striking how Bayern "all of a sudden sway over the waves like a dinghy," and fulfill the Catalan coach's every wish. "FC Bayern have surrendered themselves to Pep Guardiola after the forced farewell of their decision maker Uli Hoeness," Die Welt adds.

The paper singles out the ever-growing fleet of Spaniards at the club, with the contingent after the transfers of Pepe Reina, Juan Bernat and Xabi Alonso now up to 10, including players and staff.

"Guardiola has converted the German champion to a small FC Espana. Hoeness did not want an FC Espana. Hoeness had a dream -- the dream of an FC Bayern Germany, with the majority of the Munich team forming the Nationalmannschaft. He did a great job -- only recently the FC Bayern Germany won the World Cup in Brazil."

Theres a fair bit of revisionist history going on here, I dont think Uli Hoeness was all that great, he did bring in a lot of German Internationals.

Ultimately I think that most people, myself included, are upset that Bayern let Kroos go to Real basically in exchange for Alonso and £14M and that with Alonso being here some of the younger players wont get a chance.

They're right about that though, Schweinsteiger and Alonso will likely be the engine room until Thiago gets back, but Thiago is almost constantly injured but the youth in the setup are almost entirely untested.
