I guess he didn't want to go through the Burris treatment:
“@garylawless: Weston Dressler and #riders have agreed in principle on a deal. Dressler is in transit to Regina. Must pass physical. Could play Sunday #cfl”

@ArashMadani BREAKING: Have learned Weston Dressler, the most-sought after #CFL free agent in years, has come to terms w/ the #Riders on a ONE-year deal.
He came home

He can't. League rules prevent suspended NFL players from playing in the CFL. It's the "Ricky Williams rule"

Haha Dressler's a bigger idiot than I thought.
Your playing in the CFL, make as much money as you can while your career starts dwindling down.
And it's not like it was between lots of money and a crappy team or playing for a good team with a lower salary. He could have had both with the rumored interest of Calgary.
Good to know Calgary has salary cap space though, hopefully get some impact guys from the NFL cuts.

His potential to earn endorsements is much higher in SK.

Correct, which is why I'd imagine they are "exploring" their options. And for Stamps fans, pray he can get it done as the Stamps hold Gordon's rights
Quote:
Per a league (NFL, not CFL) source, the Calgary Stampeders hold the rights to Gordon. Per the source, the Stampeders badly want to sign him.
Whether the Stampeders can sign Gordon during his NFL suspension remains incredibly vague. The CFL has a variety of rules that may or may not apply to a player who is under contract and suspension from the NFL.
Ultimately, like any private business, the CFL will do what it wants to do. And since success hinges on getting people to pay for tickets and/or watch games on TV, it’s good business to find a way to get Gordon to the CFL.

Maybe, maybe not.
Being a big name player in a bigger city would give you just as much of an opportunity.
Unless your counting Dressler's low key Sask Humpty's commercials, I'm sure he's making a killing there...

The fact they just let LaVon Brazill join the Argos, even though he got the exact same suspension as Gordon (but is a free agent), leaves the door open for Gordon so long as the Browns allow it. And as Florio mentions for the CFL from a business perspective, Gordon brings a level of exposure no other player really could.
Frankly Gordon needs to be doing anything except sitting around and, undoubtably, getting high. He needs to have something to do that keeps his time occupied. I think this could definitely happen.

Gordon on the Stamps kinda makes us the Cup favourites doesn't it? If it happens some how?

Call me crazy, but I'd rather look at bolstering the Stamps D-line rather than bringing in more receivers. I guess it depends on the severity of Fuller's injury, but Cunningham looked great against Ottawa and Mo Price is returning to the lineup.

I agree, another top end pass rusher would be awesome for the Stamps.
BUT, if you can add the NFL's reigning receiving leader you do it without even thinking twice.
The CFL has to let this happen, it would attract so many more viewers on both sides of the border.

As expected Browns have rejected Josh Gordon's request to play in the CFL (source: @Rand_Getlin) - Gordon under contract with Browns
