Ya but has anyone figured out how to say his goddamn name? Booma or Boama?
I don't think it matters how it's said as long as it's said directly after "another blocked shot by..." or "another big hit by..." He's going to have to work his tail off again this year to prove he's worth more than a 1 year contract.

It's actually Friesan (a unique language/culture in Holland). Almost all last names ending in -stra, -sma, -ema, -ouma, etc are Friesan. Most 2nd or 3rd generation Canadians say their last name wildly different from how it sounds in friesan, but technically it's "bow" as in "bow down"

If there is one thing I've learned about having a name that isn't pronounced the same way it's spelt (in North America), it's that it's going to get butchered, butchered hard, and there is almost no reason to even try to care about it.
I imagine hockey players are much further along, and just accept whatever awkward pronunciation of their name catches first! lol
Bouma's awesome, glad they got it done, would have liked a 3 year deal.
Glad our GM likes to negotiate, that's his job, and who knows how this ended up, but I think he deserves the decent dough. Not a lot of guys put their body on the line the same way he does.
Not happy that they one-yeared him. Not happy that they are nickel and diming him.
He is a heart and soul guy. He is a Bobby Nystrom type. His teammates LOVE him.
Sign him properly and give him a decent amount of money already.
It's not like it'll cost a lot. Sign him for 3 years for a buck and a half. Big f-ing deal. Everybody's happy. Get it done.
This is stupid.
He was never going to get 3 years. It was always going to be either one or two because in two years, he'll still be an RFA. In three years, he can become a UFA.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bouma was the one who wanted the one-year deal. He'll have arbitration rights next year, so that will give him extra leverage for his next negotiation.
