Genie is not going to serve 77% all match but an encouraging start to win the first set 6-2.

She came back even stronger after taking that nasty spill in the first set. Well done.

Bouchard now matches the result from her only other appearance at the US Open, when she reached the second round last year. She’s also the only Canadian woman left in the draw after Sharon Fichman and Aleksandra Wozniak lost their opening round matches yesterday. Bouchard now has a potentially tricky second-round match against Sorana Cirstea of Romania.
She lies in the same quarter of the draw as No. 3 seed Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic, who has historically struggled at the US Open. With Bouchard being the only player on tour, man or woman, to reach at least the semifinals at all the Grand Slams this year, she will have a real shot at continuing that trend this fortnight if she can keep up the level of play she displayed today against Govortsova.

[Q] Borna Coric def. [29] Lukas Rosol 6-4, 6-1, 6-2
Never in doubt. Coric was just too much.
20 aces, only 3 DFs. Never broken. 5/5 BPs saved. 19 break chances on Rosol's serve. Broke his serve 5 times.
Really nice to see some young guns playing so well.
Potential 3rd round opponent for Milos.

Cirstea has been struggling since reaching a career high of #21 last summer though. That said, she advanced easily over Heather Watson 6-1 6-1 earlier today. Genie needs to continue to get a high percentage of first serves in and win as many easy points as possible.

Has their been a more disappointing player the last few years, man or woman, than Radwanska? Another early round major flameout as she falls in the second round to Peng Shuai. She's consistently in the top 5 yet she consistently performs poorly in majors. Not sure what it is with her.

Polish athletes are notorious choke artists. Just look at their mens soccer team. They're almost as bad as Canada yet they have some very good players, goalies and one of the best strikers in the world.
Janowicz also choked hard since his quick rise last season.

Holy crap Sloane Stephens. Besides losing, she had 63 (!!!) unforced errors. That is absurd.

Genie gets her first primetime treatment on Ashe tomorrow night, up second after Andy Murray's match (so probably around 730pm MT). Milos locked into a not before 3pm MT tomorrow on Armstrong.
