The U.S. has released evidence that they say shows Russia has been firing artillery from Russian soil at Ukrainian targets. This is significant because if this is true, it can no longer be pretended that this isn't an international conflict.
The U.S. also said that they will provide intelligence to the Ukrainian military to help destroy rebel missile sites, which will bring the Americans closer to the conflict:
Some more recent developments as fighting has intensified. The Ukainian government had the rebels on their heels, but Russia has been mounting troops on the border either to scare the Ukrainian government or to invaded. NATO is using some pretty strong language against Russia:

So apparently the convoy that was parked on the Russian side of the border that was for "aid", decided to cross in the middle of the night and Ukrainian forces destroyed a good portion of it. The Ukrainians said that it was a ploy to supply arms to the rebels. Allegedly many of the captured and destroyed vehicles were for military purposes and were not what would be considered humanitarian aid (of course, Russia is denying it).

To clarify, they destroyed part of an armored column, not the aid convoy.
The aid convoy is still parked. BBC World News has an interesting report on the fact that most of the trucks seem to be almost empty or only partially full.

Oh, sorry about that. I completely misread that then.
Thanks for pointing out the truth.

As Ukraine’s armed forces tighten the noose around pro-Russian separatists in the east of the country, the western-backed government in Kiev is throwing militia groups – some openly neo-Nazi - into the front of the battle.
But Kiev’s use of volunteer paramilitaries to stamp out the Russian-backed Donetsk and Luhansk “people’s republics”, proclaimed in eastern Ukraine in March, should send a shiver down Europe’s spine. Recently formed battalions such as Donbas, Dnipro and Azov, with several thousand men under their command, are officially under the control of the interior ministry but their financing is murky, their training inadequate and their ideology often alarming.
The Azov men use the neo-Nazi Wolfsangel (Wolf’s Hook) symbol on their banner and members of the battalion are openly white supremacists, or anti-Semites.
The Ukrainians have a few "lost" Russian soldiers they captured.
