Hardly a coincidence that Toronto Vancouver and Calgary the biggest white collar cities in Canada also are the most apathetic to CFL.
As for tim's it obviously exists in big cities like Calgary but tend to be more prevalent in small towns especially the ones where Tim's is the only chain or one of the few.
There are still sheeple everywhere though no doubt.

So I'm a sheeple for liking the CFL?

Lol wut
Top 5 median income cities in Canada (2012)
Calgary
Edmonton
Ottawa-Gatineau
Regina
Saskatoon
For comparison, the median income in Toronto and Vancouver is about $27 000 less than Calgary/Edmonton
http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tabl...il107a-eng.htm
The CFL is king in the west and the west is where the wealth is being produced. This isn't 1965.

How did this become a CFL vs. NFL thread?
Anyways both leagues are terrible because in both leagues they play football. But if I had to chose one or the other, I would chose the CFL 10 times out of 10. At least I can cheer for my hometown team in the CFL. This Canadian inferiority complex when it comes to football is dumb. I have never heard of Austrians, Dutch, Russians or Turks make fun of their local soccer leagues because they don't compare to the English, German or Spanish leagues. Yet half of this country feels like it's the cool thing to do to passionately cheer on a team from a city they've never been to in a league they have no emotional connection to all because the athletes make more money in it.... Truly mind blowing stuff.

I am so impressed with CP in general and their disdain for Tim Hortons.
Tonight on the news it was put forth that Burger King needs some form of coffee to compete with McDonald's.

Not necessarily a valid comparison. All the leagues in those countries play the exact same game.

LOL.
Sorry, I am wrong the CFL is frikkin awesome! Where your chances of winning a championship, are on par with winning a regular season division title in pretty much any other sport.
There is nothing wrong with watching the CFL, I never said that. If there is nothing on, I'll watch it. However if TSN9 is showing senior women's, left handed, hearing impaired, Southern Moose Jaw 3rd district 5 pin bowling re-runs... it's a tough call. There is also nothing wrong with going down to your local arena and watching AAA midget hockey either. But the CFL is a terrible product compared to the NFL. I never thought it was, then I went to an NFL game.
It is like comparing a Kia to a Bentley. A Casio to a Rolex. A cup of Tim Hortons coffee to a freeze dried turd mixed with hot water..... oh wait, the last one was the same.
This is a tip to coffee drinkers, and I am not a coffee snob by any stretch. You can buy good cheap coffee. You judge a cup of coffee when you drink it black. Good coffee, tastes good black, or blonde regardless of price. Double doubled, isn't drinking a coffee. It is drinking coffee flavoured fat. I have never once heard someone say, Tim Hortons coffee tastes good black. Because everyone in Canada walks up to that counter like some sort of frikking brain washed robot, and says 'double double' because everyone else says it, and they feel like they are part of some secret double double club. If you need to put that much cream and sugar in a coffee, to make it taste good, you are just proving how crappy it is. Good coffee needs no more than 1 milk, and 1/2 sugar packet. Good coffee, you don't want to destroy the flavour with full fat cream and heaps of sugar.
An XL Double Double, has 320 calories, and 16 grams of fat. That is more than a McDonalds Cheeseburger, The equivalent of 2.5 cans of Coke classic.....seriously. A black coffee has Zero calories. So basically, you have to put a hamburger in a Tims coffee to make it drinkable for most people. I work with people that down 3 a day. They are killing 1/2 their recommended daily calorie intake, on really bad coffee.

Under the terms of the transaction, Tim Hortons shareholders will receive C$65.50 in cash and 0.8025 common shares of the new company.

I haven't done much research into the stock, but that seems generous.

It's generous, and I am not giving stock advice, but I would probably sell those new shares as soon as possible. BKW is/was a brutal company.

Anyone complaining about the quality of Tim's coffee hasn't had their office blessed by a Keurig/Tassimo machine. *Tims coffee tastes like a high-end product in comparison.

3G Capital has actually made a lot of positive improvements since taking over Burger King so I don't know what you are trying to say there. Since taking over in 2010 Burger King's profits margins have tripled. If that's a brutal company I look forward to hearing your opinion of a great company as they must be solving global warming or something.

Well to each their own. It is true that since 3g became involved there have been big improvements there, but when you look at the balance sheet there isn't much to get excited about. Annual revenues were down by a significant amount, and the gains came on the back of cost cutting and layoffs. Again, that's fine, but as an investor you have to recognize its not likely repeatable for the long term. I also fail to see what synergy this merger provides? I mean yes, there is the obvious tax savings for BKW, but that's the major point. In the US (at this point) the Tim's brand is basically a non-factor. In Canada the Burger King brand is an also ran.
Personally I love both. I worked at a Burger King when I was young and it's my preferred fast food restaurant. I also love Tim's. From my point of view, the fact that I might be able to buy a whopper and coffee in one stop is pretty awesome.

The only thing that can be considered synergy here is the combined company is trying to improve Burger King's breakfast menu so it can compete against McDonalds, moreso in America, so maybe more revenue there. But Wendy's tried to up its breakfast menu in the US and it failed, I don't see this being much more successful especially since Tim's is still a relative unknown in the US. Burger King isn't growing here at all so don't know how it helps them here.

I think it helps Burger King in Canada without a doubt as they will be able to build Burger King/Tim Hortons outlets like they have done with Wendy's. That will bring more customers to Burger King that otherwise would not eat there. I don't pretend to have read all their plans and if they plan on selling Tim Hortons Coffee at Burger King stores to compete with McDonalds but if they go that route and Burger King is a place you can get a double double that would help bring customers.

The more obvious difference between those cities is that Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary have a lot more going on and competing for the entertainment dollar.

I like the Whopper, I don't drink coffee and don't care for Tim Hortons at all their food really stinks. But I do like that Tim's supports Timbits Hockey/ Soccer and Curling as well. I think you could get muffins and coffee donated for praticallly anything you wanted if you went to Tim Hortons, I hope that doesn't change and for that reason I don't mind buying stuff there.

lol...
Sorry, I drink a cup to 2 cups of Keurig coffee a day and it is a million times better than Tim's. Again, I drink coffee black (and the main reason why I thanked pylon's post above) and many of the good Keurig cups beat Tim's in a comparison without it even being close.
Tassimo...I can't comment on because I don't use them.
And on the subject, how the hell can anyone drink a double double and think they are drinking coffee? Seriously?

For black coffee: Tim Hortons <<<<<<<< Keurig < Tassimo < nespresso < boutique coffee
But some how TH's double double is the best non-black coffee ever.
