Warren Buffet is supposedly financing 25% of the deal. Good news.

They can't even make a breakfast sandwich right. Are those even eggs in them? and a english muffin should be toasted, not soggy.

The success of this chain is mind boggling. But as long as they keep pumping out stupid commercials telling everyone that "If you are a real Canadian, you'll consume our gruel." People will keep flocking in droves. Kinda like the CFL has done with it's horrible football.

It is like some twisted social experiment, to test how disgusting of food you could feed people, that somehow gave the most impossible result ever. The worse the food, the more they consume. Somewhere there is a government scientist sitting in a lab, with a loose tie, an overflowing ashtray, and a bottle of scotch on the desk, asking himself "What is wrong with these people? Why do they keep consuming this? And why do they keep supporting the CFL?"

Ok, I'm done now. Goodnight everyone.
It's too bad you destroyed an absolutely perfect post by dragging the CFL into it.

LOL.

I was waiting for a CFL fan to get butt hurt over it.

And like it or not, it is a very relevant comparison. The CFL is the Tim Hortons of Canadian sports, full stop. Popular because your told to like it by TSN. It's terrible football in any context.

Or it is popular because people are entertained by it. Nothing irritates me more than when people are so arrogant and close minded as to assume that just because someone has different tastes than you - it must be for a poor reason.

Who are you to tell someone why they like something?

I would think that the people that actually like the drink/product/sport probably have a better clue about why they do as opposed to you.

I like Tim Horton's coffee because I like how it tastes
I like CFL because I've followed it since I was 10 years old, long before TSN carried any games. The league has its flaws but I can sit down on a Saturday afternoon with my double double and be entertained for a solid 3 hours almost every weekend.

You can ask for a "premium lid". They have them for their fancy dancy coffees - so you just need to ask for one of those on your regular coffee and they will put it on instead.

I would expect someone as sophisticated as yourself would know how to spell 'palate' correctly.

I like Tims because I enjoy their Ice Caps. I like the CFL because I can buy a cheap ticket and be entertained for an afternoon with my friends. Guess I'm brainwashed by patriotic zeal?

Terrible, terrible comparion of two very different products. Sports is completely regional representation so it's not like you can choose to cheer for an NFL team and have the same effect. It's not the same if you're cheering for the Patriots when they're only representing New England.

Sounds like you were just eager to troll CFL fans

It's great football. In a lot of ways it's more pure football than the NFL in that a catch is actually a catch most of the time in the CFL as they don't had five pages in the rulebook for why a catch may not be a catch like the NFL. The CFL still has legitimate kick off returns compared to the NFL's constant touchbacks. Pretty soon the NFL will do away with the single point and it's a matter of time until kickoffs and punts are eliminated and the games are reduced to glorified CFL overtime where teams drive to score then the other team gets a turn at the 30 yard line and so on. I love the NFL as well but man it's really taking a turn into more of a football product than actual football the way it was meant to be played.

Well done. One thing you forgot to add is the CFL and tims are both similar in that they are most popular in smaller towns and backwater low-income parts of the country.

There's an obvious correlation between sophistication and the CFL/Tim Hortons and they are inversely proportionate.

All in the name of faux nationalism...or lack of anything better to eat/watch in said towns.

CFL is most popular in Saskatchewan Winnipeg and Hamilton when you factor in percentage of population that attends or watches games.

Hardly a coincidence that Toronto Vancouver and Calgary the biggest white collar cities in Canada also are the most apathetic to CFL.

As for tim's it obviously exists in big cities like Calgary but tend to be more prevalent in small towns especially the ones where Tim's is the only chain or one of the few.

There are still sheeple everywhere though no doubt.

I'm laughing at the people on the news and in newspaper articles saying they don't want this because it will ruin a Canadian icon. Tim Horton's doesn't give a #### about Canada. They've just found a hyper effective ad philosophy that taps into the Canadian insecurity about the "Canadian identity" and they exploit the hell out of it. To great financial gain.

These people are such suckers.
