All the crap they've added and they got rid of the best thing on their menu: the pies. No one makes a Chocolate Cream pie like Tim's used to.

Tim Hortons is one of--if not the most--popular chains in Canada. Somebody must like them.

The only good food they've ever had was their chili in a bread bowl. I was addicted to that when it was on the menu, but after its disappearance I haven't been back since

If you're disgusted by Tim's prices I can only assume you've been in a coma for 30 years? It's the cheapest junk you can buy

Pretty sure I haven't bought any real food at Tim Hortons the last 5-6 years -- just coffee/tea, bagels, and donuts.

I once tried to spend my entire travel per diem ($20 for breakfast) at Tims. It was impossible. I got one of everything they sold, and it was still only $17.

Their menu fragmentation is causing all kinds of bottom line problems, not to mention they're all horrific and processed.

Literally none of those are "good" and are forcing franchisees to carry more and more inventory, more equipment, and more costs overall. It has been run horrifically since its IPO, look at the recent Sr exec turmoil there.

This is all very true, yet Canadians still flock to each location, which are packed at lunch time and their drive thru's consistently are lined up around the block.
It doesn't add up, but they continue to be busy and obviously make money.

Somehow the Tim's donut has been cemented as the corporate go to when someone is visiting an office and wants to do something nice without spending a ton of money.
Bring a few dozen donuts and everyone is initially happy which slowly turns to remorse when you leave the kitchen for the second time before lunch.
We need a replacement but I am not sure what it is. They have to be fast and affordable and open early. Our Co-op has delicious donuts made fresh in the store every morning but they don't open until 8 and sometimes the donuts don't come out of the oven until 8:15.

If another chain came along with superior quality products, but wasn't Canadian, it would fail because many would feel like "traitors" for choosing to support superior international products rather than inferior national products. Tims has wisely leverage the Canadiana element to surpress the fact the quality of the products is rather poor.
Tim Hortons is basically a monopoly, it truly competes against no one in Canada. I mean if you wanted a dozen donuts right now, I don't even know where else could you even get it besides Tim's, without having to do a detailed search or drive halfway around the city, or going to Safeway or a grocery bakery. And with their foothold nobody is coming in to challenge them. It's gonna take a major eff up for Tim's to ever fall in Canada.

There's only two reasons I go to Tim Hortons.
- They are literally everywhere. You're never more than 5 minutes from a Tim's.
- It's dirt cheap.
The food sucks. The service is horrible. But knowing I can make a 20 minute pitstop on a road trip and get fed for $10, use a reasonably clean bathooom and free wifi to boot? That's why I keep going back.
But no, I don't want that soggy potato cake you call hash browns, stop asking.

Valeant bought Biovail to do a tax inversion into Canada, now they're using that to go after other big US pharmas.

These threads always make me laugh. Some people are so obsessed with what other people eat. Who gives a crap?
Some people want crappy $2 bagels, get over it?

Random observation, but Timmy's seems to be much more popular here in Ontario than Alberta.
Being here for the past 5 years, I don't seem to have the same furor over their food as the posters on this thread. I don't drink their coffee, but I do enjoy their pretzel bagel.
Doughnuts are much too sweet for me though.
