Fake Jersey Epidemic spreads to CFL
I never thought I'd see the day.
But I was on eBay and couldn't help but notice some Stampeders jerseys that looked a little crappy in the customization.
Logged onto AliExpress (Where many fakes are sold) and sure enough...
The Chinese Knockoffs have now spread to the CFL

Really? CFL has become THAT popular that fakes are being made? How can the sellers make any sales?
I want to add - Where can I get some Lingerie Football League uniforms?

If they reasonably priced the Jerseys in the first place it wouldn't be a problem

This may be the only opportunity to see improvements to the jerseys

That's not an excuse to steal.

Depends on how much value you place on optimising (short-term) net benefit versus intellectual property rights.
I'd not as simple as "stealing is bad", when stealing provides net public benefit by correcting market failures.

And what exactly has it corrected? MSRP on jerseys has increased in the last few years.

$189.99 for a real one. I love the Stamps, but I'm simply not paying that.

Sure, but counterfeits don't sell at MSRP.

What are you talking about? What is the net public benefit to counterfeit jerseys, cheaper jerseys? Owning a stamps jersey isn't a right or even a necessity, it is the definition of luxury. By that logic we should all steal tom ford suits to bring down the market failure of their extremely expensive suits.

No they don't, but that still doesn't answer what's actually been corrected here.

Net public benefit is the sum of consumer surplus and producer surplus. It is optimized when prices are competitive, rather than monopolisitic. Counterfeit jerseys are a market-priced product - ergo, net public benefit increases.
