Wild/Stars play "Let's Make a Deal"
Martin Skoula is now a member of the Dallas Stars and newly aquired Tim Connolly was sent packing, although he was probably in the midst of packing anyway on his way to Dallas so no harm done. Along with Skoula, the Stars pick up the very talented young Center, Ryan O'Marra.
Skoula is a one year older than Connolly, but comes without any health concerns and is an equally impressive talent. Add the fact that he plays on the blueline and will generate a great deal more minutes than Connolly and this deal makes sense for the Stars.
"We needed another top 2 defenseman and I think when you can add a guy who will play on your top line for a guy who'll be playing 2nd line duties, you make the trade. Especially when you aquire a great young player like O'Marra as well." GM Ryan was quoted as saying.
O'Marra was selected 15th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and improved in every year of his OHL career. He also put up good numbers while finishing the season in the AHL, proving he can take his game up to the next level...of course there is still one more level to go.
