Is it just me or is Reyes not a good shortstop?

Defensively, he's barely adequate when he's on his game. He's in the lineup for his bat and base running.

Yikes, the Jays made it close for half an inning there. Thankfully they've rectified that situation.

I've been a Jays fan since the early 80s. This may be the year I turn in my badge and pick another team to cheer for. I've never seen a more disappointing group of players. They've completely broken my spirit.

Basically this. ^
He's one of the best hitting SS in the game but he's average at best defensively. I'd really like it if he could be moved to 2B but the Jays lack any potential natural successor at SS anywhere above rookie ball (and odds are that they'll either bust or change position) and the fact that SS is a position of high prestige so it's hard to ask an all-star calibre player to move off of it (See: Jeter, Derek).

The Jays really should look at trading off their best players. The reason being is that they will get about 10-12 good prospects for them. It'll suck for a couple years, but I'd rather them rebuild and become stronger after, than waffling like they have been for the past few years. They don't have any bats that are coming up any time soon that can play. That's a major problem.
Every one of their "good" position prospects have flopped once they reached the majors. Arencibia, Lawrie, Gose, Sierra, Goins, Snider etc. . They do have a bunch of good pitching prospects though with Stroman, Sanchez, Norris, Smoral, Hoffman, Osuna, and Reid-Foley. Their only good hitting prospects are Pompey (Sierra clone at the moment could become more), Pentecost who they just drafted, and Mitch Nay who isn't looking particularly good. The rest have a lot of holes in their game and need to improve. We need some legit bats coming through the system.

Yeah, honestly it's rebuild time again. Not sure if the fanbase is going to survive it again though. They blew a lot of goodwill and momentum these last two seasons.
####ing RA Dickey trade still bothers me, and Darvish

Okay, I'm gonna say it.
There are too many Dominicans on the team.

Definitely time for AA and Paul Beeston to search for some intellectual honesty

Looking at upcoming UFAs at 2nd base next year...not exactly a bumper crop. Asdrubal Cabrera, Jason Nix, Calaspo, Drew is a UFA again. No big names that's for sure. No Cano certainly.
Tons of pitching as always will be available but whether or not AA wants to chase them remains to be seen.

My biggest concern if they don't make the playoffs this year, is that Bautista is gonna have a #### fit and demand a trade. Wouldn't surprise me after AA's no move deadline and Joey Bats' comments recently

I think they would be better off without him. Seems selfish to me.

I tend to agree, but it's a tough one. He is the emotional barometer for that room and the go-to leader. Would be a big void to fill if he were gone, but it's almost similar to us with Jarome Iginla. Maybe he being there is holding others back and causing the organization to languish instead of move on?
