I'll need a bumper sticker that reads "My government is trying to distract from its own incompetence and all I got was this lousy license plate."

Okay, that might be a little wordy for a bumper sticker.

I agree. If they must change, I'd be perfectly happy with them simply modernizing the look of the current ones. Change the 'Alberta' to the new style logo, change the slogan if you must, that's it. I love a simple clean design

Edit: Rush job but you get the idea

The existence of worse options does not make the current one good.

Eh maybe we'll get lucky and the Province will follow in the path of other provinces and allow us to buy sports team/special interest plates. Anything to avoid the Go RVing disaster.

Perfect example of why crowd-sourcing isn't usually a great idea.

The only good crowd-sourcing was the CP designed Peace bridge in that thread. A classic.

There should be a law against letting the public vote on anything artistic. Stick to politicians and Quebec referendums.

Well we can't let the government decide either, otherwise we end up with stuff like this....

Not necessarily. The government has already said that it will consider the (thousands) of comments it received and potentially modify the design. #2 only sucks because of that stupid white band and the poor placement of the mountains. Shift the mountains a bit and remove that band, and you've got a perfectly good plate that would actually be far better than #1 was.

Worth noting the outcome of the Wild Rose Party's "design competition"

Credit is due to the WRP here for acknowledging and hearing the concerns from the design community.

It was still a cheap publicity stunt in the first place, but it appears they learned something from it.

That art project apparently took two years. My mind is blown!

Of course, it's not like anyone actually goes to Ralph Klein Park.

Apparently the ground squirrels are having quite a fun time destroying those two hills that flank the Klein park sculpture.

So what is the point of having a vote on the designs if the government can impose/enforce/dictate whatever new license plates that we must switch to?
