Well, Hayes came down to my two of my most hated non-Canadian teams.

Wait a minute
I got a gaudreau that's better than this
And you won't remember at all
As we get older and stop making sense
You won't like hayes too long
Stop making sense, stop making sense
Stop making sense, making sense
I got a gaudreau he's better than that
And nothing is better than this

Good. He didn't sign with one of our conference opponents, so no one is getting stronger as a result.

nice, it's finally over.

never like prospects going this route, so will enjoy watching him being demoted to the AHL to start the season.

Rangers did us a favour by signing him, the circus has left town.

Awesome. It's not often you see a Talking Heads reference.

Rangers are at 50 contracts including unsigned RFA John Moore.

Will see if they dump a contract.

Probably going to trade that Hayes bum to Columbus for picks.

Not surprising at all. Seems like every UFA wants to play in New York.

Richards, Pouliot, Boyle out
Lombardi, Stempniak, Hayes in

I think the Flames just had too many good prospects on the wing for Hayes to want to play in Calgary. The Rangers' prospect pool is much thinner so it makes good sense for him to go there.

A free prospect would have been nice, but I think he would have had a tough time making the Flames' NHL roster - now and in the future.

I don't get why some people hate hockey threads on a hockey forum. Sure, this didn't go the way most of us wanted but it at least gave us something to talk about during the dog dangling days of summer.

Some hockey talk is better than no hockey talk.

Ryan Graves' deal is gonna slide, so the Rangers can still sign their remaining RFA and be at the contract limit.

Not sure why he chose the Rangers, their right hand side is pretty stacked already and even their top 6/9 looks pretty set, so he could be getting fourth line minutes at best, strange choice to me.

I guess the bright lights of Times square worked (see my previous post)
