I've gone completely digital with the XB1. Being able to do as much as possible from my chair and in my underwear is a strong consideration, as it's simply too easy being able to get a game the night it launches, or switch seamlessly between games via voice command. I used to trade games in regularly, but I don't buy nearly enough games to justify the added inconvenience and meager return in most cases.

...I must also echo what was said earlier in regards to PS4 hardly being objectively better on account of its sales figures. It's a good system and has the beefier hardware overall but as of now and in the near future offers nothing that would implore me to buy it for 450 bucks. In the grand scheme, I think it'll be pretty amusing 7-10 years from now when we look back and reflect upon the passionate and emotional discourse that went on about the differences in sales numbers between the two consoles during year one.

I really enjoyed the first two games. Hopefully they can get back to the creepy atmosphere of the first two games without going overboard on the typical Japanese over the top, cheesy story lines.

Digital downloads you can play the night it launches...but with pre-orders from best buy I usually get the game a day early (comes monday for a tuesday release)

With a 30% discount I would go all digital though, they are saving at least that in costs with digital download however they dont want to piss off retailers

PC market is about 90% digital these days...and with steam sales I can see why (metro last light $5 today as well as portal 2)

The 10% cheaper on digital copies should be for everyone, you shouldn't have to pay 5 dollars a month to get 7 dollars off of a few games each year.
I don't disagree with you in the statement of facts you put forth in terms of cost. However, I'm lazy and the joy of not having to switch a damn disk is near euphoric sometimes. I also have kids so that euphoria stems from the fact that the games I do have physical copies are never in the case they are supposed to be. They are in some random movie case. It's a pain in the ass.

2. I'd rather have information contained on a disc so that I don't have to worry about space management with my console memory. Every game installs now, but that's much smaller than a full download as far as I'm aware.
I think most games now do a near full install in the end (with a disk they are playable while the install completes....honestly not sure about the digital) but you may be correct. That said, it isn't much different than a disk based game...once you are nearing capacity you take a game off and if you want to go back to it you put it back on. I'm not sure I know anyone or have ever known anyone that has 10+ games actively on the go at any one time.

3. The saleability/gifting ability of digital copies is zero. Once it's yours it's yours forever. If I want to lend it to a friend, or sell a game I'm tired of, I can't.
Which is fine. I understand the concern. But that isn't something that impacts me at all as an aging gamer. I think it's great I have a bunch of Lego games that the kids are just starting to play (on the PS3 for those that think I'm a xbox fanboy). I'm glad I never sold them and honestly the price you get for most of these games on trade on don't evne make the trip to the store worthwhile.

I've bought numerous titles on release for $30 on PC through digital sites like Green Man Gaming. For instance I paid $33 for Company of Heroes 2. My buddy got Titanfall for $30 on launch. That being said, you have to watch out for those deals and often you have to pre-order the game to get that deal. Something that I've also never seen on consoles are multi-pack discounts. So for instance, when I bought Borderlands 2 my friends and I bought a 4-pack which worked out to be $40 per copy.

bestbuy has the E3 sale every year

Pre-order retail games for 30% off, you dont pay until they ship and can cancel the orders

its a no brainier and blows any digital sale out of the water

Yup. Combine that with most titles that could be finished within a month or two, you could easily trade in for $30 minimum, or sell for about $40. Either way, not a bad price to pay for a single title in the end.

Other titles like NHL15 and Destiny, you'd likely end up keeping for at least a year so after paying $40 for the price a year long amount of entertainment, still more than reasonable. Find it very hard to justify going digital on anything, unless it's something like a 3DS where carrying multiple cartridges isn't the best idea. Having Smash Bros on hand digitally is probably one of those 'musts'.

Yes on Vita I have gone all digital...mostly because I am getting the games free or cheap with PSN+ but for a mobile system digital is the way to go for obvious reasons.

Definitely planning on getting this for PC - my PC is so much more powerful than my PS4, so I won't want to miss any glorious details that The Witcher has to offer.

Negative news about the PS4?

XBONE FANBOY ALERT!
:P

On a serious note, what's the Witcher series like? I've heard some awesome, albeit vague things about it. Makes me want to pre-order it, but I don't really have an idea of what kind of game it is.

I watched a stream of both 1 and 2 and you can skip 1 without missing much besides glitchy gameplay. 2 looked awesome and I think I will play it although it was on sale last weekend and I waffled

I have to imagine most gaming rigs are better or even dominate over the new consoles. I'm a little behind with dual 680's right now though, thinking I might upgrade soon. I wish they'd put out a definitive 4k gaming monitor, anything with decent refresh rates yet at greater than 30"?

I thoroughly enjoyed the Witcher 2. It's got a solid story line, a good mix of magic and sword play and maybe a little more adult in theme than your average RPG.

Nuthin, or at least nothing I'd consider buying. Even if one goes with 28".

Legitimate question for the master race: has there ever been a time when a console or consoles were more powerful than a PC? I've never been a true PC gamer, so I don't know the history very well.

It might not be, not that it won't be. Still though, one of those titles you'd want on a good PC.
