Friday 7:30 ET Start (9:00 ET for West hosted Game)
Saturday 1:00 ET Start
Saturday 4:00 ET Start
Saturday 7:30 ET Start

Stick to something like that consistently.

Personally I think a big part of the NFL success is that you know at 1:00ET, 4:00ET, and 8:00 ET on Sundays you are going to have a game to watch. Same thing with HNIC for the hockey fans, you know that every Saturday you had a game to watch at 7:00 ET and 10:00 ET. CFL should try to follow that same consistency and take over Friday/Saturday nights in the summer when there are limited sports options available elsewhere.
One of the reasons that times are scattered is that fans complained about weekend games in the summer.

In Winnipeg in particular (where cottage-ing is a way of life), fans did not want weekend home games in the summer, so they started scheduling Thursday nights.

Then, come September, back to weekend afternoons.

Thus the times are now scattered and as fans, we have no idea when our team might be playing next.

Further proof that Winnipeg is no good.

this is hilarious to me. If the fan cared they would take the 30 seconds to go to one of the several websites (or apps) available that tell them when the game is. In 1985 you might have a point, in 2014 with information never being more than a click/touch away it's a ridiculous statement.

You are assuming a certain level of fandom.

Some casual fans (and there are a lot more of them than diehards) simply catch games periodically.

I fail to see how it is difficult to imagine that.

And if they checked said website on a Friday, only to discover their team played on Thursday this week, well it does little to grow fan interest in the league.

Even casual fans (like myself) know there are games Thursdays. I usually take a look Wednesdays to see when they play. It's really not that difficult.

No, it isn't difficult. I think you over-estimate how much the average fan cares though. They aren't on sports forums like us, or checking sportsnet.ca every week.

Bottom line: consistency in scheduling makes it a lot easier for the casual fan to participate. And the CFL is on no position to alienate anyone that is a potential fan.

I wonder if any of those TSN feeds will pick up La Liga or Bundesliga games.

TSN announcers for Sens games: Gord Miller/Chris Cuthbert as play-by-play. Ray Ferraro/Jamie McLennan as analysts.

What a waste. Two of the best in the business doing regional games for the least popular Canadian team.

Yeah, EPL is starting to eclipse hockey for me. I'd love to watch the Spanish, Italian, German and French leagues too. If TSN goes in that direction it would be great.

I'd also like to see multiple matches during grand slam tennis. That would be OK.

maybe eventually but Gol and BeIN own the rights for at least this season with those leagues (and Ligue 1, Serie A, and the Carling Cup, English Championship)

I dont know how much further it goes

it started in 2012, usually they go for 3 or 4 seasons so it's at least this season and maybe next

at the very least they should stop needing to show any Premier League games this year on tsn.ca

Nik, the link sureLoss posted is a Bell press release for the Leafs. It does mention the Leafs commentators and they are the same as the Senators.

Here is the Senators link from Bell, http://www.bellmediapr.ca/Network/TS...ng-This-Season

The Jets will have Dennis Beyak again with Shane Hnidy and Brian Engblom sharing the colour commentary. http://www.bellmediapr.ca/Network/TS...peg-Jets-Games

Yeah, but those networks are cartoons. TSN could probably win over them for the renewal with an 18 second presentation. Here's hoping.

From one of the worst crews in the NHL to one of the best though. We could only be so lucky.

For national NHL broadcasts, that's right. Teams also sell regional rights. The Canucks, Flames, and Oilers have regional broadcasts on SN as you know. Regional broadcasts for the Jets, Leafs, and Sens are (at least partially) on TSN.

beIN is owned by al Jazeera, and even though it isn't even carried by some providers in Canada, there's no doubt that they can throw bags of money better than TSN can to get/retain rights. The small detail that a good chunk of the population can't even get beIN in Canada (save for the web service) didn't seem to stop them from loading up on some popular leagues.

Of course, I'd rather see it on TSN because it would be far more accessible, but with al Jazeera as your financiers, it won't be as easy as I'd like it to be for TSN.
