I'm fine with the separated bike lanes because that road will never see enough traffic to warrant its size, and the painted bike lanes (particularly southbound) were a confusing mess for everyone.
Yeah, Northland Drive handles about 13,000 vehicle trips per day, which is very very low for an arterial. By comparison, Shaganappi on the other side of the mall is 35,000 vehicle trips per day.

Hey Bunk, we are constantly filming in downtown office buildings and the way people park in two hour zones is generally irritating. When I lived in Los Angeles on some roads they would draw lines for parking spots to keep everything in check.

Would something like that in the core be viable, it might also keep Car2Go from taking up an entire block in some cases if they had dedicated spots? Also, can we get more 3 hour zones?

Here's what they do for example:

Parking Authority found in their research that with the Park Plus system and not delineating parking spots, in most circumstances the block could and would fit more vehicles than when we had meters and spaced intervals. You get the odd badly parked person leaving an unnecessary gap, but mostly people cram in, which increases overall supply.

As far as I know, no move toward delineating spots for car2go.

On the topic of Car2Go, some of us in the Car2Go thread have been noticing a lot of tickets being issued to those vehicles for staying too long in a timed parking zone. I saw an officer writing one up just yesterday.

It was my understanding that Car2Go and the City/CPA have an agreement to allow parking in zones with a time limit, assuming of course they are not zones that turn into tow-away zones, etc.

Is Car2Go really getting ticketed relentlessly? Or is this a way of the CPA auditing things? Are the tickets getting cancelled or is Car2Go eating them? What sort of arrangement does the city actually have with Car2Go and what is you impression of how the relationship is going?

Will the construction work on 5th ave (between center street and 1st street) really be done by tomorrow? Seems like a lot of work left to do and the 301 has been a nightmare this week

Bunkster,

Will the Tuscany C-Train lots have reserved parking or all first come first serve?

It'll be up to 50% of the total reserved, according to policy.

Another thought/question regarding Car2Go. Is it possible to consider designating specific blocks downtown for Car2Go parking only? There are a few blocks near my office which generally only have Smart cars parked on them during the day. The block could probably accommodate about 15 Smart cars if they were parked within minimal gaps. If a designated C2G parking area was created along that block with 45 degree angle parking I bet that block could probably accommodate approximately twice as many cars without impede the flow of traffic.

Maybe having specific blocks designated every third block with 45 degree parking will free up spaces along other streets for regular motorists. Additionally, having specific C2G zones has an added benefit of making it easier for users to find the vehicles.

No self-respecting yop gobbler would have a clue what a car2go is.

They probably would think its a disposable car that you throw away after a single use.

You know, the city actually pays people to answer these questions if you type 3-1-1 into your telephone

Hey Bunk are allowed to fire people?
Reason I ask is I have a candidate. Whoever redesigned the intersection at 24th St and 114th Ave SE should be removed from design and put in charge of counting dandelions or something similar. And the company thats doing it...they can go too.

No. What's the issue, specifically?
