Thanks PsYcNeT for the memories and proving the thread title right.
Hopefully we are near the top of the league again soon, and the current group of flames have the lip-syncing abilities, charisma and hair to pull of a 2020 version of "Red Hot".
I was blown away with the list of guys behind Nilsson for PPG in NHL history ... amazing.
Was always a fan as a little guy, so much talent, but had no clue where he stood in history. Would love to see an adjusted PPG average for every player based on the decade they played in. Wouldn't be too hard to get total goals per season in each year in a decade and then adjust player.
I'm guessing a few guys would disappear from that list when adjusted.
Wasn't Nilsson's kid part of Edmonton Oiler Rebuild V1.0? I wonder whatever happened to him? Like most kids that escape that hype machine I am sure he played 0 NHL games after he left Oilers.
edit. Yup 204 NHL games for the Coil, 0 NHL games after.
Probably easiest to get the data annually, weighting goals scored per player each year differently based on either the total goals scored or the league-wide GAA. The get a cumulative score for each player over their careers... anybody have a couple of hours to burn?
I don't. I bet Iggy climbs the list though.
