That is to be expected. Bennett turned 18 the week before the draft. Johnny turns 21 tomorrow. He's a more developed player.

I believe he has admitted on twitter that Poirier is a good prospect since then, but isn't dynamic enough for him to be considered a great prospect.
Pronman also has remained high on Shinkaruk as well. Seems to really love Hunter.

As for the comments about Nylander - Nylander may very well end up being the best pick of the draft. Many scouts felt he had the highest offensive potential out there. I think this draft will always be an interesting one to look back to as really there was so much more potential to be the 'best player' in the draft as opposed to the last few (MacKinnon, Drouin, Barkov as the best forwards last year, but can't remember much talk about anyone else except for maybe Nichushkin as the best forward).

You had different scouts or even different media outlets proclaiming Reinhart, Bennett, Nylander, Ehlers, Ritchie and I forget who else as the possible 'best pick'. Nylander, however, did have some sort of a little consensus going as the highest offensively capable player in the draft. I was sad to see him go to Toronto.

Hertl, too. I don't get it either.

Jacob Trouba played more than all of them last year. The cut-off for games played doesn't seem very sensible at all. If anything, it should be less than half a season, and that should also factor in things like injuries. Hertl would have played every game in SJ last season had he not been injured. Same with Barkov.

Gaudreau's size is still a big detriment. Whether we like it or not, really small players are considered long shots, and it is probably justified.

Just one man's opinion guys. Nice to read for sure just to see where a guy thinks your guys are but by no means an authority or consensus on the best prospects. Nothing to fret over and in the end it's the players that will determine who turn out to be the best NHLers.

Most of the time, yes, it is justified. But I think with all that Gaudreau has accomplished in the past three years, these concerns have been dramatically mitigated. There is simply too much evidence from his past performances to quell expectations; he's not like any other small player.

Sven is ineligible. He technically isn't a prospect since he played 26 games last season. If he played 24 he probably would have been about 60 on that list.

Personally, I like it. It's how we ended up with the Gaud

I think the biggest one is his age, most of the guys on the list are 17-19

Pronman, just like anyone, gets tunnel vision for some prospects, while ignoring others.

Gaudreau not being in the top 10 is laughable.

It's actually very arguable, especially from a guy who watches top prospects as much as Pronman.

Like Kirill Kabanov, who he ranked #4 in 2010.

No it's not, actually I don't even know how it's a debate. I have him as a top 5 prospect myself and that's not me being a homer either. Gaudreau has shattered all expectations for his development each year since being drafted. It's hard to argue there is a prospect that is not currently playing in the NHL that has accomplished more than he has.

Each and every single prospect has a bust factor, and every single one is ranked based on potential because they have yet to do it in the NHL. I'm fine people with saying Gaudreau has higher bust potential based on his size, but having a guy like Nylander in the top 5 (who has a high bust factor himself) over Gaudreau based on all that he has accomplished, is almost impossible to justify. It's an obvious player bias by Pronman and it's a joke.

Mitch....come on now, I can see the argument of having him outside the top 10...but seriously top 40...lol
